This season the map pool will consist of 9 maps.
We're taking the top 3 most played map from last season and adding them to the pool. You get to vote on the remaining 6.
Comment on this post with your picks. Feel free to edit your picks if you change your mind up until the deadline of 23:59 on September 20th. Once that deadline passes, no more votes will be counted. Only players who are signed up to play at the time of the deadline will have their votes counted.

These maps are on all the Packetflinger servers and you can download a PAK of them here: . Just save the .pak file to your baseq2 folder and you'll be able to check out all the maps locally by typing "map <mapname>" in the console.
Even if you're not familiar with all of these maps don't just vote for the ones you know, try playing the ones you don't, you might be surprised and find one you really like. |

My Friends!
It's that time of year, and I'm happy to announce the start of the 14th annual Quake II European Duel League!
Signups are and will remain open for 3 weeks, until 23:59 on September 27. Please remember to send us an email at quake2edl@gmail.com so we have your current email address when you sign up. Failure to make sure we have your email address will result in you not being seeded into a group.
Maps
There is a map vote , please comment with your votes for the remaining maps in the pool. The map vote will close one week before signups close (23:59 on September 20) to give you a chance to decide if you want to play with the chosen maps.
Schedule
So far, we plan on keeping the same format of divisions for the league. Depending on the number of signups group phase could last from the start of October until mid December and then playoffs in the beginning of the year Until March. Obviously this is highly dependent on how fast players play their games.
Time Zone
Remember the official time zone of EDL is Central European Time (GMT+1). Make sure you set your time zone on your Q2Scene profile to CET so times are shown correctly and you dont miss scheduled matched.
Rules
As always please read and understand the rules. You will be expected to play your matches according to the rules and breaking them (whether you knew it or not) will result in warnings.
Please idle in our IRC channel #edl on irc.quakenet.org, it really makes scheduling matches and finding people much easier. is a great free IRC client.
Anyone who wants to play is welcome to join, no matter what nationality, location or skill level you are. As long as you agree to follow the rules and play your matches on time.

So after a while we (admins) would like to congratulate everyone with the end of another EDL season.
Mostly I would like to congratulate winners:
Div 1:  David
Div 2:  st1gmata
Div 3:  b3rt
Div 4:  Hunter247
Although season wasn't easiest or without flaws, but still we could spectate some nice games and once again enjoy this beautiful game.
For that we would like to thank everyone that signed up, played or just spectated and so helped to keep Quake 2 alive.
Have a nice summer and lets meet in the next season of EDL! |

The playoff trees have been planted, so start playing your matches now!
If you're going to be away for the an extended period of time during and after the holidays please try to play a match or two before you leave. Being gone until the end of January really throws a wrench in the works. If you know you're going to be gone for decent amount of time, please tell an admin before so we don't waste time and can work it out.
The results of the playoff style vote were overwhelmingly for a double elimination, so that's what we're going with.
The grand finals will be changed this year to a best-of-5 instead of 7. To give the winners-bracket player an advantage, they only have to win the best-of-5. The losers-bracket player must win the best-of-5 to tie with the advantage and then win another best-of-5 to win the match.

So as you might have noticed Schedule is almost empty.
Only few games, that were forced, left. This means that Groups stage is almost finished and Playoffs will start soon.
Now the important part.
If you haven't played your games and want to do that you have time till Sunday.
Contact each other via q2scene messenger, post a comment in match page, contact on irc or by any other means available to you.
Schedule date and time (before Sunday 7th Dec. 24:00).
Play the game.
Inform admins that you did so (email screens to quake2edl@gmail.com or get in touch on irc).
The plan is to announce Playoff tree on Monday.

P.S. There are 4 games forced on Sunday. They can be played earlier. If forced games are not played, the one who shows up on time will win, if none shows up the one that was more active in trying to schedule gets the win. |
