NDML*5 is almost ready to start, only few things left to be done concerning the website (as you can see, the banner is still the one of ndml 4).

Teams can now signup for this season..

HOW DOES IT WORK?

It's simple, you can :
- come on IRC channel #NDML and pm me (if you are the captain of your team)
- email me

Here is the list of the countries which I'm pretty sure to have at the moment:

Austria (frikA)
Belgium (Gravgon)
Canada (ni-ux)
Chile (Baquet)
Croatia (Necro) -UNSURE-
Czech (Marty)
Estonia (bishop and Mobzter)
Finland (Dimmu)
France (CainE)
Germany (dIem)
Lithuania (DM)
Netherlands (Arch)
Poland (Scooby)
Portugal (?)
Sweden (Stuff and Purri)
USA (naymlis)
Ukraine (Zbone)
UK (Mj)

the nicks between ( ) are the captain, as you can see I still don't know the captain of many countries, If you think you can be the captain of your country, Mail me!.

Q2SP News !2004-07-03 12:05 | Gravgon
We finally found back the coder of the Q2 Spectator Mod, aka SadButTrue (aka many other alias also).

Here is the mail I got from him:

Hi,
I was a bit surprised that anyone was able to get q2sp to work, let alone use it sucessfully :). I am including with this email a copy of Q2SP and also bw-proxy sourcecode. Q2SP was basically a delphi conversion of bw-proxy, as at the time I had little to no knowledge of c. If you can find someone willing to create a more stable proxy I would strongly suggest scanning thru bw-proxy, and then using the quake2 source as your base. The code in Q2SP is quite embarassing, which is why it has never been released :) There is little chance anyone will be able to work on it, but the bw-proxy may be a good place to start.

Since Quake2 is a dying game, I personally have no interest in revisiting this project. However, if you do find someone interested I am prepared to provide some assistance with the Quake2 sourcecode.

SadButTrue

In brief, anyone who wants to give it a try and code a new Q2TV or simply improve the existing one can query me on irc -> #ndml, I will send the source code.

IMPORTANT: New poll !2004-06-30 07:28 | Gravgon
Check out the new poll on this page, I remind you that Double-Elimination is the playoff system that was used in NDML 4 (Winner and Loser bracket).

If you have any other suggestions, comment this news!

NDML 5 incoming!2004-06-05 05:56 | Gravgon
Yep there will be a 5th season of the NDML. The signups will be opened in September and the league should start the month after.

Everybody feel free to tell me what you would like to see in the next NDML!

Also, if you are an experienced coder and motivated, you would help the Q2 scene a lot if you could make a WORKING QTV.

Here are few ideas I've already had for the next NDML:
- Single Elimination format (no more winner and loser bracket)
- Allstar game to OPEN the league (not to end it because people lose their motivation)
- Side tournament opened to all countries in the world (aka HPW or World tournament) with different signups than the regular NDML.

More to come, feel free to comment!
See you in September...

Sweden wins ndml.IV2004-02-01 15:57 | Gravgon
For the 4th time, Sweden wins the NDML.
This time they managed to win it even though they had to win 2 best of 5 maps against Poland.

Congratulations for this amazing result!

ndml.IV Podium

1. Sweden
2. Poland
3. Finland
4. Belgium
5. Netherlands / UK

I would like to thank the players, the admins (especially __d34d, Gerdt and frza) and some people who helped to make of this final such a great game: dOc, Foen and the guys from Euroq2l, thaigo & Megablaff, DM,...

Few statistics from the final
- 7 maps played
- #ndml frequentation peak = ~300 people
- Q2SP 30 slots full
- 270 frags/map average
- 13 frags/minute average

NDML is not totally over yet, Allstar games have to be played!
