Have you seen daelmun?2008-03-26 10:57 | Gravgon
As many of you probably have noticed, daelmun hasn't been online since august 2007.

He hasn't been logged on this website since the 30th August 2007 @ 15:58 so we're trying to figure out what happened to him (hoping it's nothing bad).

We actually don't know many things about him so any information can be useful (if you ever got an email from him, maybe you can check if his last name was mentioned for example).

If you can help in any way, please use the comments of this news item or contact me on IRC (/query Gravgon).

Sweden goes NDML's semis2008-03-26 10:51 | SEBbull
We know the second semifinalist of the eighth season of the Nations Deathmatch League (aka NDML), that is Sweden.

Yesterday the quarterfinal between Sweden Russia was played. As always in the playoffs, each team picked two maps, giving the total of 4 maps. Sweden picked q2dm1 and q2dm3, while Russia chose q2dm2 and q2dm8. However, GTV spectators watched only three maps, as fourth map wasn't needed to reveal the winner.

NDML's quarterfinal: Sweden vs Russia
:: q2dm1 - 284:48
:: q2dm2 - 219:38
:: q2dm3 - 229:63

We experienced something very similiar to what Finland had done in their game against Lithuania. Sweden outscored Russians with more than 150 frags advantage on each map leaving us with no slightest doubt about who deserved the spot in the semifinals. The scores are pretty high, but they can't compete with the records listed on forum. Anyway, one can say, quoting MK's saying: Flawless victory.

The game has proved Sweden, along with Finland are top-class TDM teams, which both sure aim for the golden trophy and it wouldn't be a surprise if the both teams were going to meet each other in the grand final.

As the result of the game, Sweden awaits for their semifinal's opponent (winner of Poland vs Brazil) and Russia places top8 in the tournament.

Remaining games:
:: Poland vs Brazil
:: Estonia vs Ukraine
Both are yet to be scheduled.

Finland to NDML's semifinals2008-03-24 18:58 | SEBbull
The first quarterfinal, the game between Finland and Lithuania has just been played. Finland picked q2dm1 and q2dm3 and Lithuania decided q2dm2 and q2dm7 to be their homemaps. The game went pretty much as expected. Three maps were more than enough to determine the winner. Lithuania has been CRUSHED.

Finland [3:0] Lithuania
:: q2dm1 - 209:83
:: q2dm2 - 187:81
:: q2dm3 - 244:97

The scores say it all. More than 100 frags advantage on every map. Provi, thaigo, slippi and raskal clearly outperformed the Lithuanians, giving them almost no space to fool around and frag. A truly hands-down victory. Anyone has any doubts Finland didn't deserve the win? Just wait for the demos to appear on demosquad...

Once again, Finland proved they are one of the very best national team and made yet another step to achieve the trophy. Finland becomes the first team in NDML8's semifinals while Lithuania places top8.

Finland is now awaiting for their opponent to be determined. However, the game Estonia vs Ukraine is yet to be scheduled.

Let me remind that for tomorrow another quarterfinal is scheduled! Sweden plays Russia! Don't miss it!

RDLite #22008-03-24 16:46 | SEBbull
Sorry for such lagged news, but I wasn't aware of it happening. I discovered it by wandering around q2 sites. Better late than never, I guess

The RDLite is pretty much the same RDL we know. The differences are: not being part of q2scene.net network, a bit different rules (including new map: q2duel2), Russians only, low pings and no language bareer. All that makes the RDLite an ideal league for Russian playground.

Its second season started about two weeks ago. Back then 32 players were divided into 4 groups, 8 players each and on the 11th of March the competition began. Top 4 players from each group will advance to the playoffs with first round being single elimination and the next ones - double-elimination ladder (correct me if I misunderstood the rules; I'm not russian language user), giving us interesting and long playoffs stage.

Unfortunately, those who placed the very top last season did not entered this years competition. But still there are plenty of others craving for some fun. Let me say it in advance: optiMus does not take part in the league.

The final standings of the RDLite #1:
1. fpS
2. nol1ght
3. CTapyxa-o6HuHck

Yet another polish league2008-03-24 15:51 | SEBbull
A few days ago, Darus at polish community forums posted information about yet another polish league. Way weirder than Puchar Quake2 @ PIFPAF.pl with their 3 maps only.

Have you ever imagined how would a 4v4 game on a duel map look like? I guess not, but Darus has and he thinks it would bring great fun. He has already talked to polish league centre's crew and decided to organise a league called Liga Pod Tlok, which aims for pure fun. The name is a word pun on the saying (liga pod tok) which has become popular among polish players suggesting PLQ2 favoured one of the clans - Team On-Line Killers.

The mappool consists of: fury, match1, tltf, q2duel1 (aka aeroq2), q2duel5, q2rdm2 and ztn2dm3 (aka q2duel8). All these maps were designed in DM in authors' minds, but then were adapted mainly to duel competitions. Will they be enjoyable to play 4v4 on? We will see...

The thread has been greatly commented and the players seem to like the idea. The only thing they doubt is possible lack of weapons during such games. Weapon stay was suggested, but the crew's decision is yet to be made.

The essence: 4v4, tl 20, powerups 1, bo3

Puchar Quake2 @ PIFPAF.pl #22008-03-21 08:58 | SEBbull
A couple of days ago, Conm released trailer of his upcoming PIF-PAF - TOP 10 fragmovie which is to commemorate best frags of first season of Puchar Quake2 @ PIFPAF.pl, and yet yesterday cahir announced Puchar Quake2 @ PIFPAF.pl #2 to start really soon. Although the layout of tournament will be slightly different.

The league's crew decided not to start signups, but to invite 8 most active, well-playing polish clans. This is due to a huge number of w/os and arguments that occured during the latest PLQ2. The most controversial decision is that all games will be played on, quoting cahir: the most popular maps, that is q2dm1, q2dm2 and q2dm3.

The league is most likely to start on 26th of
March, or 2nd of April. If anyone has any inquiries, you are said to go to their irc channel, that is q2.pifpaf.pl.

Puchar Quake2 @ PIFPAF.pl #1 final standings:
1st Elite Mates
2nd Team On-Line Killers
3rd 31337clan

Turkish Duel League 20082008-03-21 08:14 | SEBbull
I'm not Turkish language user, but from what I've seen, the Turkish Duel League 2008 has just started.

Turkish Duel League 2007 standings reminder:
1st BLacKAzu
2nd HowitzeR
3rd/4th BLaDe/leoner

Unfortunately this time there were only half as much signups as the previous time, but still there are 10 people who want to compete to reveal the best q2 dueller in Turkey. Players were divided into two groups of 5 people each:

Group A:
:: lasthero
:: neogtt
:: sa1nt
:: berdush++
:: NiGGY

Group B:
:: B1ood
:: CoLD
:: sHaiNCe
:: under
:: WarhelmeT

What's very interesting is the mappool. It differs from what we got used to - EDL's one. Well, ok. Only one map is different :p. It is headshot's GRIND (q2duel2), which isn't well-known in q2scene.net's world. Let's hope Turkish will post some demos of it on demosquad, so we could learn more about it... and who knows, maybe it will appear in EDL7.
