The semifinals of the have been played, and it looks like we will see a repeat of the final from last year with both  stheno e'Sports and  Cyclones winning their matches without losing a map. Last year stheno won, but maybe CyC will get their revenge? We will find out soon.

 Claymore has fixed the problems with so you should now be able to upload and download demos as you should. Of course big thanks to  Manu for additional storage space on his server!

All leauges are over now and it's time to take some rest from our beloved game which is QUAKE 2. I wish you guys great summer, many many hot chicks in your bed, partys for morning, sunny beaches fulfilled hot chicks, hectoliters of chill beer and much more...But after summer you have to come back to Quake 2 because QUEAKE 2 will never die...!

The creator of the client (for GNU/linux and FreeBSD)  jdolan has made stand-alone multiplayer game based on the quake2-engine.

Manu to the rescue
Everyone is aware of the problems with the demo-hosting on , and it has been causing some frustration among the users that they can't upload demos to demosquad and as a result a lot of demos have had to be uploaded on other sites.
But thankfully something is being done to fix the problem as Manu has gratefully offered Claymore (q2scene owner) some storage space for demos, and Claymore will be working on fixing the demo-section in the days to come. So big thanks to both of them for bringing back to life!
Latest update :: unfortunately Claymore wont be able to wrok on it untill next weekend, so we will have to stay patient for a little longer.
Screenshots and Q2Scene
Even though the q2scene is free of charge for the users, Claymore do pay for the hosting, so there is no need to upload huge screenshots that take up a lot of unneeded space on the server.
To prevent screenshots that are over 1mb in size or so, be sure to use a image-editing tool ( works wonders) and just edit the screenshot so it's just the scoreboard that is showing, don't need to upload the entire screen. This can make a 1mb screenshot only take up 50kb or so. The screenshots of EDL alone are taking up 180mb of storage space on the server.
Just keep that in mind when uploading screenshots, try to keep them small. |

So after 5 maps it was decided: Poland won the 7th season of , after taking down  Finland 3 maps to 2, after a convincing victory on the deciding map (q2dm3).
Even though a lot of effort was put into getting the GTV up and working, the game had to be played without GTV and could only be followed live via scorebot (thanks to cahir). It proved to be another classic judging by the mapscores and the way they stole one homemap away from eachothers. Full matchreport coming up as soon as  Gravgon or Gerdt gets it written.

The last semfinal has been played. Poland was coming into the deciding maps with a 2-1 lead, after the server crashed in the dyigng seconds of the 4th map, which caused the map to be replayed and rescheduled.

The last couple of games in the are to be played this Thursday, so be sure you are ready for the last big Q2-happening before the Summer holiday kicks in.
Semifinal to be continued
As most of you know by now, the semifinal between Sweden and Poland was suffering from server-crash which caused the 4th map to be replayed from the start and thus rescheduled (server crashed with <20 seconds left). This Thursday the remaining maps will be played, with Poland having a 2-1 lead coming into the final maps.

The Grand Final
Shortly after the last semifinal is decided, the grand final of the NDML will be played. Where defending champion Finland is ready to face whoeever is victorious in the previous matchup, in the last game of the league. Should be a thriller.

After an unsuccessful first try on running the league, the of the have decided to give it another go, after running a quick to decide when to kick it off.
Signups
Allthough primarily   North American (not forgetting our Mexican brothers) players are encouraged to sign up, there is no stopping players from other parts of the world to as well.
Hopefully this will spark some life into the duelling scene in North American, more so than the unsuccessful hosted by GGL ( Lambo! is currently at the top). Ladders turns out to be very ineffecient way of running leagues for quake2 in North America at least. |
