Description
Introduction:

After quite the server discussion, which was handled in all fairness by both teams, and some config problems on BTF (who was the Einstein that one day decided to turn on infinite ammo on that server?), this season's 2x2? finals could at last go its way.
Seen that there was a big crowd on the server, and both GTV servers (thanks to wision - again -) were kind of packed, combined with the obligatory scorebot on #2x2?, we can be sure the match was followed by every patented observer that wished to do so.
Assasin, MORPH-x, provi and thaigo, the gladiators about to decide this fourth season were ready, so away went the game.

First up was dm1, which was 2ez's mapchoice.

Q2DM1

Before the start of the game, one of the sYnthetic guys said he'd be pleased if they would lose this map by "only" 40 frags. It turned out to be 36, so I must say this map was a huge success for our Polish mates!

provi and thaigo locked down the map pretty fast. Using the the megahealth room as their base, they controlled the map, equipped with a powerful rail for provi and an equally powerful chaingun for thaigo. Both Finnish masters respectively demonstrated once again why they became so legendary for using these two weapons. Seeing both sYnth-players wiped out by thaigo with one single chainstreak was a sight the observers were pleasured (or depressed, depending on who you support) with more than once.
Assasin and MORPH-x did get the chance to steal their occasional frag, but there was little to be done versus the Fin-mates.

Final score:
2ez 59 - 23 sYnth

screen

Q2DM2

sYnth sure had a lot of catching up to do if they wanted to win this map and maybe even end up with a positive frag-difference. I guess MORPH-x and Assasin had this steadily in the back of their minds, because "catching up" can surely be seen as the two words best fit to describe this game.

In the first half of the game, 2ez seemed to be heading for a 2ez mapwin once again. provi was on fire with his railgun, operating from the RA-lift I believe, and thaigo tried to steal his share of quads. This wasn't always as successful versus the two top-Poles, but enough for 2ez to expand their lead to about 20 frags.
The main reason that sYnth managed to keep up in this first half must have been MORPH-x's good performance. Looking at the score, Assasin had some trouble keeping up until then, at one point only scoring 1 frag to 19 deaths. Since I didn't look at the match from sYnth's point of view, I can't tell this for sure, but it could well be that the reason why the second half of the game was much more in favour of the Poles was because Assasin found his second breath and was able to get up there with MORPH-x's performance.
Thus, sYnth started their "catching up". MORPH-x made some great railstreaks with thaigo as his main victim, both Poles were able to grab some more quads and occasionaly control the RA-lift. Assasin managed to close down his netfrag by some very efficient play.
Meanwhile, it looked like 2ez were thinking of the end of the game, and had started to consolidate their lead. Hoping to be able to clear the win by playing defensively, they started hiding and in the end even showing some nice samples of running-away--getting-fragged--waiting-for-the-automatic-spawn-which-seems-to-last-forever.
And so the gap closes! With one minute to go, sYnth had closed to difference to an amount of a mere 4 frags! Now, when I say "the last minute", you should read "absolute insanity". By then, Assasin and MOPRH-x were trying every single last thing they could to get those liberating last frags, which would secure their chances of yet winning this league. With nerves probably flashing through both side's players' vains, the result was a series of chaotic suicides, fratricides and luckily for sYnth some way too-easy Finkills.
Alas for all you Polish sYnth-fans, it was not enough. The four-frag-gap was never entirely closed, and in the end the Finnish two-player squad even managed to make it somewhat greater.

The match-timer falls down to zero, showing a final score of:
2ez 35 - 29 sYnth

screen

Conclusion:

Although I have total faith in each and every arithmic intellect of the people who read this report, I will state the importantly obvious anyway:

Winning both maps in the final game, this season's 2x2? winners are the Finnish happily married couple provi and thaigo, who will no doubt look back on this league as being TOO EASY!

Congratulations and thanks for a fun-to-follow final game.

Thanks wision for GTV and xed for scorebot!

yeah, sucks about the demos. If anyone has some chasecam demos available it would be great. Or, some keygrip masterminds could try to fix them if it's possible.

And if it is a bug with the anticheat, it would be nice if it was to be fixed as soon as possible.

Seriously, wtf is causing the demos to get this damn bug? I suspect it's anticheat since i've never seen it until this year. Too bad really, would have been nice to see these demos but maybe they can be keygripped, dunno. GG anyway, nice and quick league Gerdt!
