eh spec it would be more purri demos but DS crew 'have obligation' to protect 'good name' of some ppl who played vs purri and don't want to approve purri demos or Damiah's
purri don't record friendly games and Damiah hdd crushed so only way to watch masters in action is chase demos...
nice u/l mrt...guess il add comments on that ch-tv demo here too: Well that's about as disgustingly, nauseatingly good as a dm1 pov gets!
A few of his CG frags against Aone's rox involved sidestepping, half-second reflex adjustments I thought impossible for a human to cognate!
For example, take the CG steps area: Almost all mortals backed into the corner there under steps will die chaining against a barrage of rox while trying to at least ESCAPE; a few limp away to GL to run down corridor to upper RL/health packs.
Then there's several elite players who go toe-to-toe and gamble chain for the frag by making tiny sidestepping, rox splash evasion movements WHILE achieving a 40% CG acc! Maybe 10 to 1 odds surviving that.
Then there's Purri@CG STEPS who shows zero panic there, inverting the advantage and turning what should be a spawn frag for the attacker into a choke point trap.
Nothing left to say there...im almost just scratch my head and move on. Whatever.
quietly following this tourney, logged in just to comment (heya mrt!) Somewhat of a disappointment -- the real battle of brains coming up in Grand
imho NOT as close a match as score says -- in a hypothetical, really tight DM1 match of closely skilled players, you have back and forth scoring, strategic offense pushing against clever defense, alternating mega control, etc...just a rollercoaster of a match!
Instead, here's Purri pushing for early control, making risky choices, and almost, almost converting those gambles...but instead he finds himself down 0 to 5 with two thirds of the match finished. He doesn't have to sneak for long before sticking his CG up Aone's ass at GL lift to retake control!
For the remaining minutes, Aone reinforces what everyone already knows: Edge is a marathon runner's dream course -- chase, chase, chase! Then finally showing why Purri's on a whole 'nutha' level than almost everybody, including Aone, he CALMLY rjs from boxes to upper RL tunnel AND lands the rock! Boom. Not a trace of panic with under a minute to go...the OT just an inconvenience for Purri winning the match.
+ Aone's incredible tenacity, patience and anticipation during the first 10mins...NEVER letting Purri limp away to recover.
+ Gotta call this a comeback despite the appearance of "just-another-Purri-duel-where-his-plans-don't-come-together-until-the-last-five-minutes"
++ I was even nervous when he went for the rj! Those are called LANERVES! Then the far-from-guaranteed rocket shot to tie.
