Game of the week.2011-03-02 10:13 | dr4gunov
Another exciting round of games ahead of us. It was hard to choose game of the week out of such ilustrious list of fixtures but the people have voted! Zorre vs. maq has edged out Damiah vs. Shugg. Let's take a closer look at those two players.

Zorre is an everpresent force in Quake2. He has won many teamplay titles and achieved everything he could in tdm. On top of that he is well respected dueller although he never have won any cup to prove his claim. I guess main reason why he is so feared when in top shape is his incredible aim especially while using chain and railgun. Those two weapons are the last to rust when players are inactive and has pulled Zorre out of hot water on many occasions. In addition to that, Swede is old-school kind of player that has spent countless hours playing on "The Edge", has seen changes in tactics and gameplay and is capable of tactical suprises. All of this makes Zorre a potential winner of any q2dm1 based tournament regardless of activity.

Maq is a product of more modern, Purri inspired quake gaming where it is not enough to win - you have to do it in style. His main attribute would be a railgun. That's his weapon of choice on most tdm maps. You would be a fool however if you make a mistake of thinking of Maq in low-sens-no-brains railgun only tdm moron. He is a very confident using any weapon - especially on q2dm1. In fact, Maq was for a long time considered dm1 only player in Poland untill he proved otherwise in recent PLDs. Although not really willing to use them, Maq knows all the tricks of deception on the greatest of all maps and if really in need is more than capable to play a tactical game.

Who will win out of those two? It's an interesting question. Both players have excessive aim reservoiars and know dm1 better than their sleeping room. In my humble predicition person that wins will be the one who controls chain better and is able to play smarter in defense. I hope we will have intense games which will be scheduled well ahead and held at GTV server so we can all enjoy.
