Topic says it all.

However my fellow quakers, please share your thoughts about the maps, what maps should be removed and what maps should be taken in?

This is not a vote, this is a open discussion which I will consider when it is time to write down the rules.

For example, what is your opinion about aeroq2? q2duel3/q2rdm5? q2rdm1? Is q2dm2 too campy?

So we are gonna make pro-q2dm7, pro-q2duel1 and pro-q2dm2.

Gerdt: let's try to pick 2 players, mb sya and some more ql guy, and ask them to play q2rdm1, record the demo and post it on ds.

+ q2duel1 (absolutely agree with dael about need replace one yellow armor instead of green on aerowalk for better ballance)

new maps - q2rdm1, q2rdm9, q2rdm10(last one even used on some old events afaik) - not bad maps, some new breath (c)
p.s.: still dunno why so many guys dont like ztn2dm2.. its probably the best strategy/ballanced map and now with prohibited timers in 1v1 it should become even more interesting and competitive; its really enough aim-maps in leagues maplists - so why you ppl want to throw away at least one of 2-3 only good tactic maps? "boring"? omg reason :] ye its pretty easier to just shoot on resps like on rdm7 :] and for sure it keeps much fun *sarcasm* :]

I like q2rdm1 but I'd like to see a _serious_ duel on that map.

Oh and why remove dm2? Just learn to play it!

in fact, dm2 is smaller than dm1, so, this argument is pointless.
Dm2 is very good map. And i is possible to retake the control... Thats fun.

i don't know why EDL have map limit
more maps more fun
i know for some players its hard to learn new maps (8-9 years old) and they like to play simple maps with one YA
if u look in EDL4 league stats u can see witch maps is popular more then others

ztn2dm2 played in edl4 1st time and i think this map deserve chance in EDL5

q2rdm7/q2dm2 as less popular out emo

q2duel1 / match1 lost last poll for few vote and they must be in list for next EDLs

q2rdm1 is very nice duel map but no-demos on ds emo

rdm1 seems to be nice, need to try it with some duels.
aerowalk is very cool imho.
q2dm2 i prefer to out since it's too disbalanced - 1st spawn costs too much.

What about other duel maps: we tried duel2/3 for RDLite tourney wich now ends, and we found duel3 is shit but duel2 pretty nice, so it was played on the tourney in the group stage.

What about dm7 - never played there duels cuz nobody wants )) But it's gonna come similar to dm2 i guess.

yes plz Aeroq2 is very nice. Lots of action. A bit mortal coil-ish but the transporters make it quite the arcade map emo

I would vote for new maps like:
duel1, duel2, duel3, and rdm1.
But i think that if something needs to be change is q2dm1 (remove!) dm2 as well ;]

First thing that strikes me is to replace q2dm2 with match1. Similar RA camping maps, but match1 is a lot more hectic and actually has some sort of balance and I'm having a weird fascination for the mega-deadend. And it's a classic q2 map, proven by being played in Quakecon Q2 tourney. Where as q2dm2 is too big and slow, and extremely hard to retake control on and the hiding/campy play to secure win is zzz. First spawn decides so much on that map.

Not a big fan of the rape/be raped games on ptrip either, gotten enough of that for a long time to come, but doubt it will be removed since a lot seem to enjoy it.

I love the idea of adding a non-rail map though, just to make the gameplay a bit different from the q2dm1/q2rdm2 rail-rape sessions, that favors players with a different style than the aim-maplockdown.

Always wondered why the aerowalk version for quake2 has no yellow armor to give some sort of balance to the red armor for the down-player. Feels that it is somewhat broken for q2 play, but it's a nice enough map that haven't been overplayed in duels to still make it exciting. But as it is now RA+rail is just plain deadly, but it has enough rocket-spam angles to still make it possible to play it with other weapons.

The others you mention I haven't played on, so wont pass judgements on those yet.

What about trying to get some mappers involved and creating a map specifically designed for EDL#5, a sort of mapping competition where the winning map actually gets a chance to be played. Would be interesting indeed, but guess that requires a lot more effort than just chosing between already excisting maps, and I'm pretty sure there should be some around that are better than say q2dm2.

Oh and by the way, test the maps before you judge anything. I found q2rdm1 really nice to play when I tested it for the first time last night
