Half a year we had to wait for another season of the coolest Quake 2 league out there! After successful Oktoberfest 2008, we noticed that people are eager to see some 1on1 action, so here we are with 7th season of European Duel League which is going to determine the best dueller in the Europe (world :b). Signups are opened until Friday - 31.10.2008, so don't hesitate and follow the link. The rules have been updated a little, so keep in mind that you are supposed to know them. League layout will be announced later.

	Juha in da houuuuuuse I signed in. Just waiting for the maplist to decide if I play or not. If its short enough maplist to learn the maps, I'll play. Doesn't even matter that much for me which maps are in as long as the maplist is short enough to be able to play all maps equally good. 	mmm.. in my opinion, q2dm1 is too bore because too many games was played on it early. not anything special for spectators in 99% games now on it... we want a Show, is not it? But who can give us the nice Show on the q2dm1? 2-3 players only. Some ppl say that too many count of maps now in maps pool. I sure what they rights. We need to introduce one-two new map in each new season and kick some others... so we will see funny seasons, but not predictable with 5-10 good games only. 	@pops: 200 armor is not too much in 4x4, but it IS in duelling. Especially on spawnkilling maps like ptrip or long distance maps like dm1/dm2/ztndm3 it seems like some people instantly voted 'no' without even trying the map. Edited: 2008-10-26 07:07

	My suggestions: 1. Remove q2dm1 and add koldduel1! It's in fact a duel league and dm1 is the most played teamplay map for 4on4. duel maps should be small and fast 2. Also remove all 200 armor maps, so ztn2dm3/2+ptrip+duel1+q2dm2 200 armor is just too much for duelling. Also it's way more exciting to see scores like 27-23 (duel5 score) then 70- -2 like ptrip/q2dm1

	to be honest i voted for "no" thats my bad, ive decided to check this koldduel1 and its rly awesome, we should not drop any maps, thats the problem i guess , eveyone has their one homemap that he can pick, thats the problem same like it is in euroq2l, lets try with drop it, or random maps like it is in plq2, trust me guys its much mor funny when u got 6 games in a row without ur homemap andu rly have to do everything to win at least one of them hf all !

	There is no Q2 without dm1. Dm1 is played more than all other maps combined together. Eventho I don't like dm1 that much atm, I couldn't imagine a league without it. Dm1 is and will always be THE map for Q2.

	well for limited ppl Id Software already invented 2 games after Quake2 one is Quake3 without double jump and implemented strafe jump 2nd is Quake4 with shoot through teleport both of this games have max 5 maps pool and reason is limited ppl who playing cant learn more maps im not wonder why some of q2 limited ppl want to make smaller map pool (they needed 8~10 years to learn 2 maps and im sure they need next 20 years to learn 3 more) Quake2 treasure was always big number of playable maps so is it future of Quake 2 to becoming game for limited ppl only frighting and sad

	Make a poll about the maps which ppl want to play. Then pick 5 maps that got the most votes. It's more fun to practise 5 maps than 11 cause it takes less time and results in a more quality games. The poll could be done via irc and only players that are signed in get to vote. That way all the spammers don't get to vote and players will get to play the maps they really like. 	packetdup is r1q2 server feature.. it has nothing to do with mod (tourney/battle/opentdm/tdm).. so if packetdup doesn't work, it means that server is most likely running on q2pro.. and no, packetdup is not a myth. it works, just the price is not acceptable for some people alexyenov, you should read my post about nofreeze again and again.. i say that allowing players to use nofreeze can result in some players making server search harder

Probably in next year OpenTDM will become as "Head" tourney mod. All we need is setup OpenTDM on the servers. Imho. Btw. Sheaf of OpenTDM + Q2Pro server is most progressive by the current time. 	how to make rules forced when all q2 league play their matches on 4 mods: OSP-tourney, battle, tdm and opentdm witch are allowed in past EDL had problem with q2dm2 map and BFG: while on tourney is possible to play without BFG on battle is impossible (rail wont show up) => decision was BFG 1 same go to ptrip: while on battle spawn rape is usual, on other mod spawn rape is not that common i guess its coming time to q2scene/EDL crew and top players seriously debate about allowed mods and rules on it

	why everybody ever whine about ballance why ztn2dm2 or ptrip are bad? well, one player can count armor and lock the map. so try your best to be that player! or you are to lazy to count? they also say that impossible to make a comeback vs a strong player as purri or damiah on imballanced maps. so maybe it's too easy to beat them on other maps? imo fun gameplay > ballance. tight games on ptrip or any other imba map are nice to watch. and if 1 player is stronger he just wins, so what's wrong about that? 	why not remove spawnrape maps as ptrip for an example? or dm1... spawn meg and play like a fag and win the map... anyway koldduel is a really good map. havent played a new good duel map in ages, so bring it it and remove atleast 2-3 other maps and as pogo said. lets improve the quality.

	My reason for wanting less maps is that it would improve the quality of the games. Right now there is a ridiculous amount of maps in EDL, getting to the point that the one who knows the most odd maps gets a big advantage. No other quake game (qw, q3, q4) would ever allow a map pool the size of EDL, since players just can't practise them all and keep an overall high level of play across the maps. 5-6 GOOD maps is ideal imo, though i can see already that very few people would agree with me

	Why anyone should remove any map at all? Why can't Koldduel1 just ba added? Is it some supreme supersitious rule, that the number of existing maps cannot be changed? For sake of Match1: Majority of Lithuanian players are favoring this map and seeing this go will likely result in a small unrest within Lithuanian duellers' community. For sake of Aerowalk: Kicia loves it, so noone will touch it! Skip the talk, move on!

	im stoned how is q2 community is open for progress in map pool youngest map is Reclamation [kamq2dm3.bsp] by Kamarov (popular name q2rdm7 ) Finished March 4, 1999 and even q2rdm7 with bug teleport is playable on opentdm nofreeze teleport setings i only hope Koldduel1 wont wait next 10 years to be add in EDL dont remove any map. all maps r 10 year old map isnt girl to like her: stu and learn to play

	I think the map pool is gettting out of hand. Time to remove some of the shitmaps (rdm7, rdm1, aero etc) in favour of koldduel1. Like alexyenov and purri said, it's got the potential for some awesome games if people would just give it a fair chance.
