Michaq took his time to interview two polish stars who just met in the semifinals of EDL #9. One known for his weak nerves, the other known for his young players' aggressive style of the game. Of course we are speaking about Assasin and d4v1d. In the article you can read about how they see their upcoming match, about the maps, and what d4v1d thinks about recent accusations about him using cheats. For some more click .
Assasin vs David Soon one of the semi-final matches of the European Duel League will be played. There two giants of polish duel will clash. In one corner, the legend of the polish quake 2 scene, true oldschool player - Assassin, on the other side, the hot blood of youth, innovative game, impressive movement and aim - David! Experience vs. insolence, self-control vs. spontaneity, cold blood vs aim Which of these qualities and forces of nature will prevail? We'll find out soon, but when? [11:56] <michaq> When is the game? [11:56] <Assasin> don't know Meanwhile, I invite you to read the interviews I made with both players!
ASSASIN <michaq> Hi, we are very close to your semi-final match against David in EDL, do you feel up to the task of stopping the young bull? What are your advantages? <Asassin> I will try to play my best, but could I win.. hm
I don't know, for sure it will be a tough match for me. David plays better and better, he owns the best duelers and is predicted to be in the final against purri. For me it would be hard to win a single map in the finals while David is not afraid of anybody :). I find strength in my experience, my aim is worse than most players, so i will base my game around tactics. We'll see if it changes anything in the confrontation with the rising power of the Polish q2:) <michaq> What's more important, the experience and composure, or aim? <Asassin> In duel nerves are the most important, if you dont have cold blood, you can only polish the floor or walls. <michaq> CS3 (only Polish player, which saw purri live) is also famous for his aim, whats more in contrast to David's hes got experience in various lan tournaments in q4, but still he could not stand the pressure of the game against you. <Asassin> CS3 is a very experienced player, the first map influenced the outcome, he had a strong start, and I had a bit of luck so I managed to win duel5, a pair of rails came from the ass and so he gave up. :) <michaq> Which map do you fear? <Asassin> My weak map is q2rdm2, I do not know how I managed to win it against CS3, I rarely win there. His second map will probably be ztn2dm3 because he managed to beat Damiah there, so it gave him self-confidence, my guess is rdm2 and ztn3. <michaq> And yours? <Asassin> Everyone knows my maps :) duel5, ptrip. I only picked q2dm1 vs CS3 because I know that he doesn't like it and secondly, actually this is the map that I play 90% of the time I play q2. I dont play duels at all, and dm1 is best map for FFA, thats why is the best map. <michaq> What do you think about the recent accusations that David used WH? <Assasin> I know nothing about it, I play q2 for fun, if playing on WH is fun for someone then let him, there is no prize money, so it does no matter, I will not be interested in this . The only possibility for a 100% check is Lan-tournaments, there wont be any q2 lan-tournament in the future, so we can only speculate. Any player who suddenly becomes good may be the target of attacks and accusations, and sometimes they are true as in the case of sierra and sometimes you cant prove it. It is accuse someone of cheating when he's playing well, we are saying that to explain to ourself why we did not manage to play at that level. As for me I will never have certainty as to the young generation of players. I know 100% who are not cheating and the rest remains in shadow. I've never seen David playing at lan, so I do not know how I can adopt a position because this is pure guesswork:)). I doubt that David cheats. While on the other hand, Ive never look at his games from that angle. <michaq> ok, thanks for the interview, good luck, and I hope Davids 'rails from ass will not warm your famous cold blood:]. GL <Asassin> Thanks for your interest in our game, I hope that I will win a single map:).
DAVID <michaq> Hello, soon you will challenge Assassin in the semifinals of the EDL. You still haven't lost any match in the league, you are crushing one opponent after another, will you crush Assassin as easily? <v3David> Well hello. Somehow it happened that I didnt lost a game, or the players were out of shape or they were just average duelers. I hope that I will keep playing my style, and as result from that my match against Assassin will hopefully be equally positive. <michaq> Shall I ask you about your maps? <v3David> don't ask;]. <michaq> ok <michaq> Assassin believes that the formula for winning is cold blood, do you agree with him? Do you save your nerves in all the matches so far? <v3David> Its true! I didn't manage to keep them every game, I've often had bad nerves but slowly, this problem is disappearing. <michaq> How long have you played q2? <v3David> I started In September 2006, I was playing only instagib, two years later I switched to TDM and with [GOA] clan I started to learn how to play tdm. <michaq> Also you are famous for your foul mouth, your words "suck it" during official matches in the different European leagues are already well known. Are your bad manners a sign of youthful rebellion, "I dont bother", "I don't care about behaving good", or is this a calculated strategy to make your opponent angry? <v3David> I wrote "suck it" to zorre to make him more nervous when I hit him with railgun three times in a row having only 10 health. <v3David> I write it to break the enemy, those words are not meaningful to me. <v3David> : D <michaq> And in the matches vs Damiah and DM? <v3David> I can't recall writing something vulgar to Damiah, I respect him for what he achieved in q2, I wrote only "boring" because he played like a wanker but I don't blame him. DM is known as a nervous guy, I thought he would get more angry but he surprised me. <michaq> What about suspicions that you use WH? <v3David> They have the right to think so of course, but the evidence they showed is at least funny:> . <michaq> Who is the best Polish dueler? <v3David> This year cs3, of course as he is in shape;]. <michaq> Thanks for the interview, good luck in the game vs assassin, we are hoping for some 'rails from ass';]. <v3David> Thanks, so I hope:]
Let's look further into what some experts have to say: <Muerte|> Assassin <PURRI> I must say that Im unsure which form these players have, and how good David really is (I never played him), and I havent seen Assasin play in a very long time, but I think David will take the longer straw and win 3-2 or 3-1 in maps based on feeling rather than knowledge :) <wision> I know Assasin as not really patient player, who tends to lose his nerves when the game doesnt go his way, but he has years of experience which will help him in the game, while on the other hand this is what David doesnt have.. the experience. What he has is strong will that he wants to achieve something and that is driving him to success. Im hoping for 5 mapper, which can really go either way in my opinion. <norman> david 3:2, <cleanerrrr> If assasin do not get angry from the first deaths, he will win the game. Experience will win: 3 to 1 for asssasin, <GGerdt> I think 3-1 for david, just cause he's in better shape and probably a better dueler than assassin <ath|sil> david ass 3:1, if david doesn't start to sweat with nerves, P <dragunov> assassin because in q2 not only skill counts, but also how the player uses those skills <irvin^> hmm it will be a good match, I think assassin will win with a small difference <danka> WHO KNOWS;] <DM> I want david to win, coz (...) [censored by michaq] <c0v3llz0r> Honestly i have no idea, I Predict 3:1 for assassin. Why? Becouse i dont know anything about david and i havent seen him play duel, i know only results:) <CAREEM> Assassin will probably lose at rdm2. Because he was never good at that map. Assassin was always one step above in polish duel scene so I Predict 3:1 for assassin. :) <Welkin> David - Assassin's huge despite the advantage of experience, I think David's hunger is going to be tipping the scale factor.
