1) Demo Uploading Site

We're very sad to say that the new demo site for this season is being delayed. mobius is helping us develop it, and he needs alittle more time. Hopefully we'll be able to introduce it before the end of October.

Meanwhile, the players shall send their demos to the EDL email (one zip/rar file per match, containing all maps), and we'll make them available on some sort of webspace where they're easily browsable and downloadable. The URL to said webspace will be announced shortly.

We chose not to go back to old Demosquad even for this short period, because we have promised not to burden the players with the hassle that uploading to DS means. Email is easier and less time consuming for you.

2) Rules

The forum thread for rule suggestions and feedback has now been closed. There were a couple of good ideas, which we discussed among the Crew. Our response is to be found in the last post of the thread.

The rule sheet in use for the start of the season has now been published. Click "rules" in the menu to the left to access it.

3) Map Pool

The map pool vote has now been closed. This is the EDL #11 map pool:

q2dm1, q2dm2, q2dm3, ztn2dm2, ztn2dm3, ptrip, q2duel1, q2duel5, q2rdm1, q2rdm2, q2rdm7

4) Supervisors

If you've read the rule sheet, you might have noticed we have something called Supervisors this year (which replaced last season's Advisers). The EDL #11 Supervisors are:

5) Red List

The first three names to be placed on the Red List have now been announced. Access the Red List by clicking "articles" in the menu to the left.

The Red List document shall contain the reason why the player is added, and what the result of it shall be. It will be updated shortly with the information it's missing.

6) Prize Money

It is now obvious that this year's prize funds for the EDL will be very small. So if you're participating for the money, you might want to reconsider. Doubt anyone is though.

	purri's issue was not his time, but with this map pool of this season ... I doubt he would sign up EDL if he hadn't got any time for it. And ppl will always drop out, nothiung we can do about it really. And not everyone can know the future exactly, they have the time to play when they sign-up, then smth unexpected could happen resulting to quit or "simply ignore" their participation of the league. But ultimately ofc the best would be if everyone participate and play their games: from start > finish.

	If David can't find time to play, then he shouldn't sign up. This goes for EVERYONE, including purri. If you don't have time to play, don't sign up.

	I d like to see some season of EDL with a maplist number of 5-8 maps max. 5 old maps + 1 2 or 3 new/unnplayed maps. This way we might see new or innactive players signin up cause its pretty hard for a newcomer(even oldschool) to learn to play a high number of maps and as someone pointed the quality of games would be better since everybody will focus to learn fewer maps. Timers its kinda hard to be banned actualy it will result in more work and headakes for the admins and not only, suspectin everytime any game and have useless conversations about: did he/she used timers or not? Tho, a quick league without timers would just help a bit in seeing if its really a big difference and if its worth the change. Also about divisions... This is kinda good and bad at the same time. Imo there should be only 3 divisions : div3= rookies/newcomers or innactive 2000s players div2= this division would include almost the most of the q2 players wich are medium/high skilled players / I say that its better to mix div2/div3 into one division cause there is not to much difference in players level since in the period of the league ppl pracc and improve their level pretty much from the begginin and many from so called div3 are already div2, and this alot before group stage ends. div1= this would be the elite division in wich a handful of well knewn players would have the honor to attend in. Ofc i would also like to see matches between every division champions or top3 from these, once edl ends. I would call it like one day champions league. Also i would like to see how would be ztn2 with bfg on. Bfg aint that powerfull weapon if u dont know how to use it. Its pretty slow and it requiers alot knowledge from players. Also i m thinkin it will be more spectacular. And one more thing: Imo, there is no EDL without at least Purri and Damiah so i hope these guys will play the whole season just for sake of q2scene even if we all know they are not as active as before, its always great to see them playing, for me its like watchin real madrid/barcelona match. gracias

	There is two problems with that Ceba... 1. It doesn't matter if one or two people don't know the map. You need to look at the whole community. koldduel1 is probably the most unknown map in the list I presented but the reason it is there is because it is by far one of the better designed and balanced maps available. This in turn outweighs and counters shite like ptrip which is just a capitalists map for spawn raping. 2. Skill actually isn't even reflected until people have some knowledge of their environment. A good example of this is recently in Starcraft 2 I said to Rev 'I can't really use any tactical skill until I know the game a bit better'. It is the same in Quake 2. Map manipulation can't even begin to be introduced until players have some knowledge of a map. Other than that it would come down to luck and spam which doesn't make a very interesting or accurate tournament. Edited: 2012-09-25 19:24

	Someone wrote about learning a lot of news maps. I think all the players, or atleast most, would have to learn new maps. So noone gains any advantage. When both players dont know a map it will depend on skills (movement, aim, etc) and speed of learning, not just running same old path in well know maps. So better players should still win. And new maps wont be played that much, everyone will play same old maps, and you basically get your 5 maps map pool Well thats my opinion. It's easy for them. ^^^^ By all means do so. Only makes my life a lot easier. 	..actually, for those wanted koldduel1 in the map pool, why was there only a handful votes in the official voting forum thread? U all had the chance to influence the outcome. Actually, let me do the count....... "only" 35% of current participants voted, say 40% since some might have joined after the votes closed down. So that is 60% not leaving their say in this matter. the People truly decided this outcome ... can the People really be blamed then? However I think I support the idea to have fewer maps to choose from. It's actually really hard for virtually anyone to stay in shape on great many maps at once. If timers would be banned., then heck get rid of Bright skin and modified packs etc. ....See? very realistic.... and beside, one can't come with such groundbreaking changes so far in to game like QII. Certain things should sat as they always were. So yea, I could esily continue to time all my pickups.....whilst many others wouldn't have the same opportunity. At least with timers, all have the same chance........

	dm1, dm3, ztn2dm2, duel5, rdm2, koldduel1 That is the most balanced duel map list you will find. It is also the perfect amount of maps for a tournament. Everything else is just static and noise. On a side note, you don't want to 'introduce' or use 'uncommon' maps in a tournament like this. Think about it, using maps that pretty much everyone knows to some extent will produce a more fair, and more entertaining and satisfying tournament over all. Edited: 2012-09-25 15:08

	Why do u always have 100 maps in the mappool? Noone will have motivation to master them all and that results in 100-0 games. Just look at any other league with max 5 maps mappool. Less maps equals more even and quality games. Edited: 2012-09-25 07:01

	Worst map pool in edl history? This is my general opinion but also agree that it's weird that koldduel1 is not in map pool when you look at maps like q2dm2 + q2rdm7 etc... This is not a threat in any way, but I can honestly say that when I look at the current map list, then it makes me want to give up my spot this year. I will think about this for some days as we are always moving very slow anyway, perhaps I change my mind, but right now it's quite mheh

	Map pool: agreed with second detina's row. as for me koldduel1 is "new" map, what peoples play often, not much "new" maps can display same result. ofcourse q2dm2 nice map: big, beautifull, almost balanced. but imho it not best choose for any duel league. I'm realy glad what, you guys, keep working on q2 demos site. It realy good idea! Delay is commonplace for any project. Good Luck! In advance, thanks to wision, syanid & quadz for supervisers work. 	hm.. i calculated maps, and koldduel1 was picked 11 times earlier than q2dm2, but in results a see 10 picks of kold)) what it is mean? and in last edl kold was picked 94 times and dm2 was picked 50 times.. argument?
