dm1(thaigos map): Start went to purri who really got the jackpot with chain, ya, mega and rail within the first minute. I expected purri to lock down the map right away with that start, but thaigo played very smart and managed to pick away at purris huge stack of health by hitting a few carefully placed rockets. Purri went down and thaigo managed to grab himself a few more frags by smart and balanced attack/defense. Both players had some obvious respect for each other, playing very careful keeping the score low. For a while it looked like purri might have a chance to make a comeback, but thaigo just played too good defense and managed to stay at a safe distance until the end securing the victory with 6-3.

dm3(purris map): This was a totally different story. Purri got the first frag and didn't look back, totally dominating for more or less the full 15 minutes. Thaigo looked a bit lost here slipping into lava/slime several times. He did get a few comfort frags, but could never do anything to threaten purri here. Final score 25-3

rdm7(thaigos map): dm3 but reversed! Here thaigo was the one locking the map down and getting loads of spawnfrags. It got a little closer than dm3 though, probably due to the lack of health on the map making it hard not do die atleast a few times. Same story as above, purri got a few frags here and there but was never close to thaigos 27.

ptrip(purris map): Again a quite one-sided map, this time in favour of purri. Thaigo did manage to steal quite a few red armors and make some nice railfrags. This was all in vain though as purri obviously knew the map better collecting frag after frag while running the items well.

TIE! Map elimination went like this: purri got more frags so he chose to let thaigo remove the first map. thaigo removed dm2 and ztn2dm3, purri removed rdm2 and ztn2dm2. That left us with duel5 as the final map.

duel5(elimination map): THRILLER! I'm sure both players were shaking like leafs at the end of this one. It started out in favour of thaigo who seemed to have more or less full control running the 2 armors and grabbing weapons everywhere. Purri was beeing chained all over the place and never really had the time to start a comeback. However it looked like purri decided he didn't want to lose like this and woke up, starting the comeback that looked impossible before. After that the players kind of traded with each other, no one really wanting to give up any frags. With 40 seconds remaining the score was tied at 14-14. Here purri seemed to have the better nerves getting 2 quick kills, but ended up dying with 5 seconds remaining and score 16-15. Thaigo probably heard where he spawned and tried to sneak in for a railshot, but somehow purri squeezed himself against the wall and walked away winning the game with a single frag! Great game by both players and a really nice following with lots of spectators on gtv and irc. One of the best games so far this season for sure, don't miss the duel5 demo!
