EDL #4 1/4 playoffs Provi vs Turricane
The match took place 1.2.2007 @ Hlanit.org

We had lots of difficulties to get the game started because these new anticheat forced servers do not allow GTV to join unless they are added on exception list. Besides that problem, the server was all the time full and for a while it seemed we are not going to be able to provide GTV for this match. After restarting the server and adding a password for joining we were able to start the match finally.

Turricane who was hometeam in this game chose ztn2dm2 and q2rdm7 as his maps while provi decided to go with q2dm1 and ptrip.

Our first map started with turricane blewing himself up in the first minute of the match. Provi got the full control of the map at that point and he slowly but steadily built his lead up to 6:-1. Turricane started to get on the game just before half time and he was able to kill provi twice before loosing the mapcontrol again. Score grows slowly with both players making frag here and there and finally when just 2 minutes is left of the game provi leads by only 4 frags, it would have been the last chance for Turricane to start fighting for the victory. Provi does not think so and puts few very well placed rockets on turricanes feet and the game is over for him. Map ended 13:6 in favor of provi.

Second map and provis homemap q2dm1 starts very favourable for provi. He spawns in the megaroom when Turricane gets one of the worst spawns, in the underground. Provi collects the goods from the room and goes for the rail. Turricane knows that it's not a good idea to let provi come out from the water with all that armor, health and that deadly rail, so he spawns some rockets to water. Provi takes some damage but is still able to come out alive and even when loosing the room to Turricane he has the advantage of having the railgun in his hands. Turricane is unable to keep the roomcontrol for himself when provi hits him couple of times with rail and then finishes him with chaingun fire, regaining the control of the room. Turricane is now in big trouble when provi has locked the map and he quickly dies couple of times in a row. He tries to go for the rail but is unable to get out of the water alive when provi throws handgranade in the railtube and hunts him down with chain. Turricane keeps on going for the rail and is usually able to hit provi with his rail before he dies, but that's never enough, provi is just packed up with too much health and armor. Provi has still a really deadly chain and every time Turricane makes an attack he has to walk right towards the bullet storm ripping him to pieces. Turri however is able to take control of the room one more time, but he just cant keep it when provi all the time keeps him on low health with his railgun. Low healthed enemy is no problem for provi who changes his weapon to chain and kills Turricane, regaining the control again. Turricane struggles to find a key to take provi down but nothing really works. He keeps on going for the chaingun and the railgun but he is always killed by well armoured provi. He is eventually able to kill provi twice in the end of the map but the score 31:2 describes well how good provi is on this map.

Third map and Turricanes 2nd map is q2rdm7. I had never seen Turricane playing this map before so I didn't really know what to expect. The map started well for Turricane who spawned at SSG and killed provi quickly with it. Provi makes a swift attack with chaingun and pushes so close to Turricane that he blews both of them up with his RL. Provi takes better spawns and gets the map control and keeps it for a long time. Provi leads with well over 10 frags before Turricane is again able to come back in the game and start challenging provi for winning this map. Provi has lots of missed rails at this point and that helps Turricane to close the frag gap between them eventually just to 4 frags. (22:18). At this point Turricane makes a unforced error by walking in to the lava and loosing his chance for the win. Provi thanks him and makes few more frags and eventually wins with 32 to 23.

Provi advances to semifinals vs Victim/Purri while Turricane has to pack his stuff and go home. GG.
