First semifinal of the season between Damiah
and Assasin
. A promising game which turned out to be really frustrating for many, read more to find out why.
Damiah chose q2rdm2 and ptrip as his homemaps whereas Assasin chose q2duel5 and 1 for himself. The first map was rdm2, because Damiah was the hometeam here.
The map started with Damiah spawning at the RL and Assasin at the shards near the railgun. Despite his spawn, Damiah is able to steal the mega and get 100 armor when Assasin is left just with a rail and a chain. On the first minute Damiah is already almost able to chain Assasin to death but Assasin is able to escape. On the confusion after the "near-frag" Assasin is able to get the MH and armors to gain a good control and first frag as he chains Damiah who makes a mistake by trying to go for the CA at the water area where Assasin waits for him behind the corner. A quick frag followed gives Assasin 2 frag lead and nice control over the map.
From Damis point of view we get to follow how he patiently collects 100 armor and waits under the jump pad for Assasin to make a move. Assasin does this by going for the armor at the water arena, which gives Dami a chance to get quickly up the jumppad and a free way for the rail. However Assasin follows him and tries to chase him down with a chaingun, but he is not able to match for Damis aim and score turns to 1:2.
Damiah gets the mega after that and starts his control over the map and the items. Being overconfident Damiah makes a fierce attack with chaingun but underrestimates Assasins rockets and they both end up dead at the water CA arena. Second similar attack a while later works better for Damiah, partly because Assasin runs out of rockets on the fight and gives away a free frag for Dami.
A few spawnfrags later Assasin gets his maybe 3rd spawn at the railgun and he is able to escape with it as Damiah is at the water CA arena. Railgun is not however any good for Assasin because he just cant hit anything with it. He dies a bit later and at this point it seems like the game is over for him. Assasin plays slowly and smart and is able to avoid the most horrific spawnfrag-scenario often seen in here by Damiah and the map finally ends with a decent 22:5 score in favor of the old champ. Assasin comments this map by words "lame map".
Second map q2duel5.
Map starts with Assasin spawning at the chain and Damiah at the RL. Damiah starts like he is really angry and he makes a fierce attack with RL and brings Assasin down after just few seconds played. He turns that one frag to 2, 3 and 4 and a bit later its up to 6. Assasin who was totally lost in the beginning calms his game down and just waits for some goods at the chain-area. This tactic shows some results just a little later as he is able to kill Damiah with RL + Rail combo. Assasin is not able to find a key to dominate the map as Damiah did in the early minute and the score seems to stay the same for some time. However it looks like Damiah is all the time slighty ahead of Assasin in everything and with the help of some nice rockets, Damiah builds his lead to 10:2. This score reflects that Damiah controls the map, but it also looks like Assasin is able to fight his way back to the game more and more.
Five frags later the score has turned to 15:2 and it seems like the main reason for this is the difference between the movement and aim. Damiah is all the time a step ahead and Assasin is just not able to match his opponent on any level. With help of some nice SSG shots Assasin gets Damiah killed and gain the map control, but the score is not closing well enough. Damiah fights back hard and does not let Assasin to close the cap, which seems to be frustrating for Assasin. Frustration is not a thing Assasin can handle and the map seems to be over even that there is a lot of time left. When there is 5 minutes left the score is 18:6 and Assasin is in need for a miracle.
Damiah who started the map with RL and used Chain in the middle, switches his rail on for the following minutes and the game is over. A few frags later Assasin has had enough and he writes kill in the console few times and starts to talk more than to play. He claims that he suffers from lags and that he is not able to play because of that. For me as a spectator that lag must have been invisible, because I did not see anything different in his movements compared to the first map. Anyway selfkills and few frags added to Damiahs account we have the final score of 34:4 and 2:0 maplead for Damiah.
The frustration starts. Assasin is not able to behave and he shows the same immature behaviour which we already saw in the game vs Pogo on previous round. Assasin does not want to continue to play as he claims to have lags every time he shoots at something. He disconnects from the server and is not willing to continue, even when I ask him to do so on the IRC. Also he does not seem to like the idea of playing the last map on another server, it looks like we have a w/o for the last map. After a long and frustrating 10 minutes he finally agrees to play the last map on Dediz where he has 10-15 ping-advantage, but he says that he is not going to play for the win. How nice of him, Damiah must be happy, he will win now without doubts, right?
The Ptrip.
I missed the start of the map while fixing the scorebot, but I think that Damiah got the rail and Assasin the RA. RA does not help Assasin a lot as Damiah gets the first frag, followed by 5 more. After 7-8 minutes of playing Assasin breaks the Damiahs control and closes the "almost 15 frag cap" down to 3. At this point there was 5 minutes left on the clock and the map could have gone either way. Damiah is however able to kill Assasin after 2 railhits followed by a cocky RL attack and the game is over really fast. This time on the control Damiah gives no chance for Assasin to come back into the game and it's all over for the pole. Assasin decides that standing still for last 2 minutes is the coolest thing to do and the map finally ends with score 29:12.
It is really a shame that Assasin can not keep his mind cool and to play like he should be playing on this level. He showed no respect for the opponent, for admin or anyone who was following the game. I am glad he played the last map, because if he would not have done it, I would be far more angry than I am right now. I only must concratulate Damiah for managing to act like a real player does and for showing an example how you should behave in situation like this.
Damiah goes to the well-earned final, concratulations!
