Friends, it's time. After taking a year off, I'm hopeful we can all find new motivation and inspiration for the 20th season of EDL.
Unfortunately the playoffs of the previous few seasons resulted in a seemingly endless cycle of delays and finally unceremoniously fizzled out. I know I'm not the only person who was frustrated by this. The time off has refreshed me and I hope it did the same for many of you too. I think it's time to get back into it.
How can we prevent the mid-playoff burnout this time around? I'm not 100% sure, but I'm hoping that getting started a little earlier and shortening the timeline will help enormously. I'm hoping to have the group phase done in the fall and playoffs well underway by the winter. Depending on the interest level and number of signups it's possible we could have the whole season completed by the start of winter.
I'm also willing to put up a small cash prize to the winners as incentive to complete the season. I'm not talking about a lot of money here, but the old saying goes "money talks and bullshit walks." If anyone else in the community wants to donate a small amount we could possibly get a decent pot going. Let me know if you're interested.
As for maps, I'm open to anything. We can do the same old map pool, we can hold a vote and have players decide, we can scrape it and do all new maps. Let me know what you'd like to do.
