|
All unscheduled and unplayed games in all divisions have now been forced!
Check the "upcoming matches" list to the right.
Remember: 3.2.12 Players may reschedule a game that has been forced, if they are able to come to an agreement. 3.2.5 Postponing a game is only allowed if both players can agree on a specific future round to postpone it to. Such an agreement (with the number of the round mentioned) should be proclaimed by both players, in the comment section of the game's webpage. When the future round comes up, 3.2.2 is in effect. 3.2.13 Failure to show up on a scheduled date and time will be interpreted as forfeiting the match. |

The Major News Update | 2012-01-30 09:17 | Welkin |
| |
| | |
|
It's been a while since the last news update, which only means that there's more to cover with this one!
There's a few very important issues in the text below, and all participants need to read it.
1) NEW SCHEDULING & FORCING SYSTEM
For everyone's sake, the admins of the EDL have decided to scrap the current scheduling system. Unfortunately, the old system unintentionally favored inactive players and always gave the active players a lot of headache when they tried to set a date for their match. This is very unfair, so we created a new system all together, hoping to get a better situation out of it.
- The scheduling of games will now be done in the comment section of each individual game's webpage.
- At the start of a round, each player shall give a list of times and dates for the entire on-going round, on which they can play.
- If you fail to schedule your match in time for the ongoing round, you have until Thursday the following week (not round) to submit new times and dates (between Friday and Sunday) for which the game may be forced. If one player provides considerably more times and dates than the other, that player may be favored when the game is forced.
- If only one player submits times and dates, the game will not be forced, instead it will turn into an instant walkover for the player who did provide the necessary information.
- Once a comment with times and dates has been made it may not be edited, if you forget something and would like to add it you should make another comment. If the admins notice that it has been edited, the comment will be disregarded from completely.
- If you postpone a match, you must both agree on a future round in which the game may be played instead. When it's time for this future round, you need to follow regular procedure and submit times and dates in a comment.
A more detailed description of this system is written out in section 3.2 in the .
2) ALLOWED SERVERS LIST
In an attempt to further limit the possibilities for any cheaters, I have decided to disallow certain servers until further notice. These servers are either not anticheat enforced, or they lack a sufficient hash list.
The Allowed Servers list is available here:
This list will be updated every now and then. Especially in the near future.
I am working on getting the disallowed servers updated with better protection. I have high hopes, but I know that all server owners will not embrace the changes.
On a sidenote, I am also proud to announce that the previous problem on the Digitalfrag servers, which caused players to telefrag each other way too often, is now solved. It may still happen on small maps every now and then, but that's not more than right. Random is random. :)
Rules update: "3.3.2 Only servers listed here are allowed. Games played elsewhere may not be considered official until replayed on an allowed server."
3) INCREASED MAXIMUM NUMBER OF WARNINGS
One thing that we have learnt from this EDL season, is that it's too long. I had a vision of shaping this scene into something more grand and extensive.. And I haven't lost that ambition, but it needs to be done differently, imho.
The scene isn't cut out for almost-year-long seasons, and we've lost some players because they haven't been able to keep their spirits up. Cutting future seasons down to half the duration may be the best solution. We will see.
Anyway, being that it's such a long season, the crew has decided to increase the maximum number of warnings, to better fit the circumstances. It's been 5 before, but it will now be 8.
4) VARIOUS MINOR RULE CHANGES
5.1.5 A player may only pick one map in each match. Even in the playoffs. 5.1.11 After having finished playing both players' map picks in a playoff game, the following two (four in the grand final) maps to play are chosen through map elimination. Whoever has earned the higher net value (own score minus opponent's score) in the first two maps, will choose who starts eliminating the remaining maps. Also, the player who did not start eliminating, will pick which map (out of the chosen two or four) to play first. The following maps in the grand final, are picked by turns. 5.1.12 When "home/away" in a playoff game, the third map (and the fifth in the grand final) is played on the server used for the first map, and the fourth map (and the sixth in the grand final) on the server used for the second map. 5.1.13 In case of a match tie, the decider map is to be picked like this: 5.1.13.1 For games played on a neutral server, the player who has earned the higher net value (own score minus opponent's score) in the match, will choose who starts eliminating the remaining maps. 5.1.13.2 For games played home/away, the player who has earned the higher net value (own score minus opponent's score) in the match, may choose either the server or present the opponent with two maps to choose between. If he decides to pick the server, the other player will give him two maps to pick between, and vice versa. This server must be one of the two servers used for the previous maps. 5.1.14 In the event of 5.1.11 or 5.1.13 and both players having the same net value, an old-fashioned "blaster fight" in the q2dm1 arena determines who will be given the benefits of otherwise having had the higher net value.
5) NEW ADMINS
Both me and IsBjorn will be going away in the beginning of February. IsBjorn might be back as early as March, but more possibly April. I will be away until the first days of May.
So norman has agreed to step in and take over a great deal of the work. Welcome, and congratulations to the rest of us!
Another admin may be announced shortly as well.
I will be available at my private email at all times, just in case. |

EDL High-Lights #2 | 2012-01-11 13:43 | sofiene |

|
Long time since the 1st episode of the high-lights,alot of games were played and alot of surprises happened and ofc, alot of frags were made. lets start with Damiah who beated DM with almost no-problem (notice that DM is playing too much QL),he won all his matches exept a w/o vs Gerdt wich will be played soon....talking about Gerdt,he played a very tight match vs Pogo, both won each other's map but the decider was in Pogo's side.
The biggest surprise was PURRI who had problems to win vs isBjorn, wst and K1ra and loosing at the end vs David who, let's say,won kinda easy vs the swedish legend,we all notice that PURRI is not in his best shape, lets hope that he will get his skillz back. David already won all his matches so far,he is in his best shape at the moment, alot of players say that he will win the Gold this season but who knows,we are still in the groupe stage and some are hiding their skillz for the last moments. a great match was played between two oldies, one from [LM] and the other from [KTA]...nope,its not OPTIMIZER and Dimmo, its Odium and Welkin, was good match with the frustrating old-school game style,Welkin managed to win it making him in the head of the DIV 3 WEST. let's not forget[Wizard]Slippi who is still owning by beating Cleaner,aGent and NumaveZi,he won all his matches so far making him in the lead of his groupe. also, another surprize made by st1gmata and Alexj who won vs the awesume ib0gine but he is still unstoppable in q2duel1 AKA aerowalk.
the jumper APKIS joined the EDL in the DIV4 B,he won all his matches so far by making some cirlce-jumps (jk) and lost vs the rail freak Revo who also wanted to try the Duel mod,APKIS is now tied for the 1st place in the DIV4 B with pr0to.
and about the DIV4,the A section was completly dominated by MCS_FaderJok0 who won all his games, same goes for michaq in DIV3 EAST.
some new players are added in the DIV4 B,such as neowolf and Hi7man,and some other players are kicked from EDL like jakkari and Hibru.
we are still waiting for alot of exciting matches such as the Classico Damiah vs PURRI orib0gine vs Slippi and others.
GL & HF to all the players and let's hope that it will end with a GG ! |
