Looking back at the original idea of the EDL and its purpose, we find out that the goal of the league is the find out who is the best European Quake2 dueler. Last season for the first time we had two divisions and it worked out rather nicely. However we think that it is a time for a change. An engineer would say, that if something is not broken, it can not be fixed. As an 99.9% engineer I disagree.
25 people voted for 1 division, 23 for 2 divisions system. We chose to use the 1 division system. The idea of having the 2 divisions system was aimed to prevent the most uneven games and to keep the duels enjoyable and interesting for both of the players. With one division system this requirement can be only met by one mean: By using a pre-elimination before the league itself starts.
The exact system will be announced after seeing how many players are interested in playing this season. However main line is, that the top players are picked up and moved straight to the real groups of the league, while the rest will be placed on the eliminations groups from where the best will advance to the real league itself. The system will be somewhat similar to the system in EDL#2, but the amount of groups and players in them will be decided later.
Sign-ups will be opened when we are ready for it.

The upcoming season of EDL will be made with pretty much the same rules as in the previous seasons. However, if there is something that you think is not right and needs to be fixed, please post a comment about it.
I made a poll about divisions, should we have one or two of them?
Admins will be needed, if you think you have what it takes to be an admin, let me know about it. (IRC @ #edl or messenger on the site) |

Last season ended in an epic battle between two of the best duelers of the modern Q2 age. Damiah was the one who finished on the top and left Purri to the second place, again. On the 2nd division Optimus defeated Vint in an convincing 3:0 score.
Enough time has passed since that and it just might be the time to think about the next edition of the world famous, the one and the only, amazing, wonderful, thrilling and exciting - EDL.
So far everything is on a planning stage and nothing has been decided, but soon will be the time. So now, everyone, start practising your skills, polishing your shields, change your ringtone on your mobile phones to Grunt jumping URGH! and prepare yourself mentally, EDL#6 will be soon (sooner or later - All rights reserved.) |
