hmm.. an interesting discussion here. First, I'm stunned about the whole argument between the players here. I don't get it. One little teeny tiny eq2l cw. [lm] is one of the best clans in the league but so is Wizards. It's kind of childish to argue about this, 'cause if someone doesn't get to the playoffs, who cares?
If people have reasons why not to play..then they have, you don't have the right to criticize people for it. Rules are rules, even though I would have liked to see the screens of the this cw.

We didn't have change to reschedule (coz game was already 1 week late) and we couldn't play it 35min late, so what the hell we suppost to do if this was lame, give w/o to lm?
Events like this could be avoided through kinda boring rule:
There is an official league time on the league page. If it goes over that time the match can't be played even though both teams agreed to play. This in case both of the teams wouldn't be there. Otherwise the match would e.g. be rescheduled (or totally skipped).
There couldn't be this kind of "lamers" then.
BUT. As playing is far more funny than not playing, and while following current rules, playing is far more likely option than with the rule suggestion I stated, conclusion must be that let's keep the current rules and try to play whenever it's possible.
Btw. We did vote if we should take wo or not and all agreed on wo(except Davve who wouldn't play anyway).And for that one player leaving wizards thing...it's more like one idleguy left.
we were MAYBE 1-2 mins late cause of ttnm prac but we did come to channel with all 4 players right after that.maps were decided etc and we went to server and waited for about 10 minutes and there was only one lm player there,maybe 2 at some point.We decided to give LM 5 extra minutes and the result was no players, we waited for few extra minutes after that and result was no players.
and like u say, quake2 is played for fun and I prefer oz rather than q2+foen had to study+sotis had to wake 3cet = of course we refuse to play 35 minutes late = wo.
If this was such an important game for lm, one could think that they get players in time, at least within that 20 minutes overtime.
well i don't think ALL the players from wizards are happy with this w/o.
I don't know who claimed it but it proves that the person(s) in question doesn't have fun playing q2.You could at least have rescheduled...
But once again it's your right to take the w/o eventho it's a lame act.
Wizards are right to win according to rules, u can't argue about that.But in a thight scene like the q2scene is all clans now eachother.
Everyone is doing this for fun, that's why q2 still got players. But in my opinion it's only fun when you play, not by w/o.
lm was a bit late at our game too but we waited, and if waiting wasn't possible you could play the match later, personally I think it is boring with W/O games, escpecially an important game like this.
But if wizards ar content to win by w/o, there's nothing you can do about it because all rules were followed.

That is the rules we were 10min late you 34min, this is the only way you can understand this rule.
Sir: I wasn't there but had a chat with the matchadmin so I know pretty much what happened (and as 1 of the head-admins I tend to know any probs concerning the league). I agree on most people that the match would have been far nicer played properly but like Gravgon said according to rules Wizards had the choice there.
Stuff: The match was booked 21.50 so 22.24 = ~35 mins...

and what i have heard u haved 4 players on the server.. and lm haved 4 players on the server then wzrd comp broked down so he needed to reboot.. then u left one min later to take a WO when u did know lm haved 4 players... just that one haved a comp problem
Well i had to check irclogs when we left the server and it was 22.24fi time and it was almost 35min over booked time, this doesn't matter tho, and then few facts why we didn't want to wait whole night, I went to read physicexam which is today, and sotasankari needed to go sleep coz he had to woke up 4am. Then we had 3 + davve, do you think it is fair, that lost 2 possible first line up players because lm was late?
If so then we have a new tactic!
But ofcourse that clan who took w/o is the lame one, even if they waited 15min extratime. Ans specially if we are talking about 2 top clans.
And Jent, wizards in year 2001 and wizards now is 2 totally different things, only 1 same player.
I remember the times when Q2Sl5 was still on. Wizards never had players, and if they happened to have any, they were atleast an hour late. And somehow, they always managed to survive with dry feet. I remember many hours of figtning with admins, but somehow they always kept their side, even when the letter of rules was on our side. And now this. Puuh. Lame, can't say anything else. If lm really told that it'll take only few minutes for wzrd to arrive and they couldn't wait, unbelievable behaviour from an oldschool clan, can't believe my eyes...
If the rule has been respected - even if it's "to the letter" and that it's not really sportive - you can't do anything about that and I'm sorry of it. Now of course I fully understand lm's players reaction to this and if wizards took the decision to take their default win, they should have been prepared to get flamed
it that so strange? i know everyone in lm kinda good anyway.. and becuse of this they will maybe not even get to the playoff.. i think everyone know that lm is one of the best clans in nq2l.. becuse wzrd have comp problems.. they took a WO?.. ok if lm should not get any players at all.. but they haved there players.. but what can they do if one gets some comp probs? that is why i think this was really bad behaviour from wizards

Stuff i didn't said that eA was the lamest clan ever, but you done some lame stuff, like started killing teammates when you were losing, but who cares, life goes on. And maybe i little overreacted to you Stuff but i was so pissed to one person. I luv u Stufflamer!

Foen, we didnt leave, wzrd was having comp problems and we were in irc trying to fix his problem... and btw, he did join the server while you was there but his comp crasched, and shortly after that you all disconnected and called it WO, we even got twinman to join and there we was, with 5 players and no oppenent simply becuase you didnt want to w8 1-2 min more..
