cccp2 - solaris incident

One just looks away for a month and there's already dirt going on. Yesterday we were able to see some interesting case of cheating, so let's hear the story what happened. Around 21:30 CET there was there was flag

cccp2 vs solaris flag

match just about to start.

First interesting fact was that two cccp2 players pinged about 20 on finnish server, which shouldn't really be that low for a player from flag

Kiev (mep3abeu) and for a player from flag

Moscow (optimus). First investigation showed that both are playing from flag

Moscow and that flag

mep3abeu often goes for and plays from there, which was also explained by EDL admin flag

kaby.

Another fact was that there were six players on cccp2's ventrilo server. flag

shug,

aid,

k1ru,

slonik,

vaselisa and flag

kaby.

kaby wasn't on the q2 server, but he was aware of the fact that flag

cccp2 is cheating and he was misleading EuroQ2L admin in the investigation.

shug was observing the game and speccing solaris players for a great part of the match (he stopped for last 10 minutes of 4th map when I (wision) was present on the server) and also often speaking on ventrilo. I was told that he is just helping them with some tactics from time to time, but we (admins) see it the way that he was helping them with some tactics, while he knew about in-game situation of all solaris players, so flag

cccp2 might not even realised this, and that it was not their intention.

Closer investigation of flag

mep3abeu's and flag

optimus' IP showed that they are really registered in flag

Moscow, but the ISP is from flag

St.Petersburg, which confirmed story about flag

mep3abeu on the bussiness trip in Russia and playing from flag

aid's home (he lives in flag

St.Petersburg), but flag

optimus lives in flag

Moscow, so another IP check was needed to find out his real identity. I was already suspecting one of the guys on ventrilo and I was right. His IP has the very same which flag

rage.vaselisa was using for months to play q2, not forgetting that flag

vaselisa was on cccp2's ventrilo and vaselisa is from flag

St.Petersburg.

The next day flag

k1ru (cccp2 clan leader) was asked about fakes and he confirmed that they used fake players ( flag

aid as

mep3abeu and flag

vaselisa as flag

optimus) because they didn't have four without them and that they didn't want to give wo. He also denied any help from flag

shug on ventrilo.

Conclusion & punishment:
- flag

cccp2 is kicked out from the league and all their matches will be turned into wo
- flag

k1ru,

slonik,

aid and

vaselisa are kick/banned from the league and forbidden to play in any clan for one upcoming season
- flag

kaby is kick/banned from this season, for misleading EuroQ2L admin and covering up faking
- flag

rage is required to have an admin during their remaining games and all their players' IPs have to be checked / confirmed, otherwise their games will NOT be accepted and turned into wo
- flag

shug receives official warning for possible cheating

	yeh eon true, harder to stop the cheating when the scene is bigger, absolutly. The european scene is smaller and is a very mature scene, i guess that is one of the reasons why so many gets both disseppointed and angry when some stupid idiots just cant read the rules, and at the end of it their act like they havent done anything wrong and are proud of it, more like they have done the scene a favor cause it dident end up with an w/o. But as we said before, it would never have ended as a w/o we (solaris) would have reascheduled until it got played, thats how we work, we want games to be played thats the point of this league.

	unfortunately i have to agree with RL ::: Thaigo every PLQ2 season we have 20-30 acive clans, and 120-180 active players, Im talking only about last 2-3 seasons coz it was much much more. Propably u dont know even a 30% of them, coz most of em prefer to play only in poland, we have PLQ2, Polish Cup, PIFPAF CUP every year + some random summer leagues. When the scene is so big its obvious that some cheaters and stupid kids are there...and trust me, there is nothing what we can do about it except ban em all :\| Edited: 2008-12-14 12:27

	We (Solaris) have been around since 2000 and we have NEVER taken a w/o unless forced to do so by the admins. So all cccp-2 had to do was ask.. But no, instead they thought the worst and tried to cheat their way forward. Sanctions have been issued and they seem reasonable. Anyone thinking otherwise should have their head examined. The people posting irrelevant comments about clans skill-levels - may I remind you, this is division 2 and all the clans in this division are AVERAGE at best. If they were anything better they wouldn't be in here...

	Hehe, I just knew it from the start. Well I have still hand it to you. You played really well and aid was unstoppable on next1 when I specced the match. My dm3 was a total disaster, maybe my worst ever, with 4/20 stats after 5mins Still, good decisions by admins because that wasn't so nice. Only thing I'm actually mad about is that they wasted about 2hours of my own time that evening before a maths test that went shit.

	The only thing i don't agree with admins it's ban players for next league. Yes, they did VERY bad work, but noone plays here (q2scene) for money or somekind of prises. So i think it's not good when our not so big scene looses good players (teams) for the WHOLE YEAR .. 	Wow, I don't even know where to start here.. Ok, I actually wanted to post because of the shug's case here at the first place so I'll start from that. This is to all of you whom agree or see him as a cheater! Do you even know that shug is not on the squad list of that team. So as far as I know none of the "speclock rules" touches him. As far as I know he could spec whom ever he would like to! Oh right – he was on the ventrillo with the guys. Well, this isn't enough for blaming him in cheating of anykind. Have you ever heard of the function: mute? Let me tell you.. in the quakeworld scene we have a commentating crew for almost every important game in any league. We usually gather on teamspeak server. And there is no whine about anyone cheating, giving hints etc. So please stop shooting the arrows at shug. If you do not have any “waterproof” arguments for the fact that shug was helping cccp team (actually talking with them) during the match, then please apologize in from of him. Hmm, allright now the cccp's situation... You know what guys it is funny how some of you talk about “fun” and keeping the q2 scene alive etc. All of this quitness.. Well let the tell you something – this was the case! Cccp did exactly what you are talking here. They want to keep the league alive, they knew that they are missing some players for the match. So they found other to play with them. I would take a hat off because of this act in front of those guys showing up this kind of activness. Not like some other clans, whom don't care and agree on w/o's or do not show up on the date etc. No admins, it isn't only you whom tries the best to keep the league going on, it's the playres too. Sadly most of you do not see this and blame all those people for nothing. Could you actually for a moment turn off you emotions and selfishness and look at the “other side” of the coin here? … talking about emotions. So you think that humour and cheating don't go side by side. Building your decisions on some random guy translating some random place from the text – isnt a neutral view of the situation here either. I understand russian and yes, I can tell you that the news on the Russian Quake2 Portal is having some funny parts in it. Sadly for you all whom don't understand russian it is hidden – and believe me, you can't get it out of there just by translating the text. Actually coming back to the shugs case. Who ever was the admin (wizion I believe, sorry if I've mistaken) who spoted shug beeing the same ventrillo server with the guys. Please your statement is pathedic, the fact that they were talking russian there doesn't prove anything! It is quite normal for them to talk in their local language. I'm more than sure that you all do the same, it isn't the case where to blame someone in acting not by the “book”. I don't want to turn this into a novel or anything so to wrap my post up I will state that shug has been blamed for nothing. And giving him an “cheater” badge isnt correct. 	putka: there was no admin during that game. i checked some ips, it was weird that mep3abeu was playing from russia, but i was also told by (currently former) EDL admin kaby, that he is in russia on bussiness trip (that was confirmed by mep3abeu's comment 2 weeks ago on EDL site). during the match i didn't have enough proofs to stop the match and believe me that i regret it now. and you are wrong.. if i would have audio records, shug would be probably banned as well.. thing is that he's just warned since we don't have 100% proof that he cheated, but he most likely did, hence the warning

They got the punishment for rule 5.7: 5.7 If a clan uses a disallowed player (a player that isnt on their squad list, or who has been disallowed to play after a sanction or who has been kicked from the league for any reason) in any match, they will lose the game by forfeit and a w/o victory will be awarded to its opponent. cccp2 CHEATED: they deceived their opponent and admins by using fakers. After that they tried to cover it. And even worse, after they got caught, they were proud of it and kept bragging about it. If vaselina and aid had used their real nicks, and solaris had agreed that cccp2 play with them, cccp2 would have had a w/o and aid+vaselina would have had a warning.

	Celer1, winning by cheating isnt really counted. A mixed team of 2 clans, isn't counted as 1 clan in eq2l. It could have been a pcw :p And activity also counts in a league. CCCP2 couldn't get 4 players, that means w/o. That means they are not best clan in eq2l div2. Optimus,celer1 and mep3beu weren't there, so not banned ofc. Edited: 2008-12-12 15:01

	It seems to me, punishment is too severe. Good players are necessary to a scene, and to deprive of their possibility to play - not plus for it. Why not to make so: Rematch cccp2 vs Solaris + to give out the first and last prevention to the guilty team?
