After a long serverdiscussion and 40minutes waiting for ecf to get 4 players everyone finally joined the server and started to play. ECF chose dm2/dm3 and ath picked dm1/dm3. You can see that both clans have dm3 as their homemap, so they must have been quite confident about their play on it...
We started with dm1 where ath|dem showed some nice railcontrol. In fact ecf owned all ath's players expect this dem guy, who at his turn, raped all the ecf players. He controled the railarea for the whole game and provided his teammates with rails and others weapons. ECF's base was in the mh-room, which was under pressure during the whole game. I can say that this map was mostly played in the FFA-way and only dem controlled a position.
The second map was ecf's dm2. I expected them to win this one as they know how to play it. SP replaced centrix on this map. ECF had the RA lift for a while but by a lack of teamplay they lost it time after time. As you all know Poles have the teamplay in their blood and thus they knew how to hold the RA once they conquered it. The typical dm2 quad-ra duality started. ECF took most of the quads, but they were stopped time after time by a boosted ath player. My conclusion is that ATH knows how to win the map (by killng the quad and holding the tower) and that ECF weren't really organised well around the quadarea (and didn't cover the quadrunner).
The third map was on the 2 dm3's which were to be played. I think all words are unnessecary if you take a look a the screenshot. ECF won by a 2frag difference. Ath had a (small) lead for the whole game but SP was the man of the map and showed some great aim and teamplay. Mainly thanks to him ECF was able to make a 30frag comback in the last minutes and eventually take the win.
The second dm3 was a bit different then the first one. Here both teams fragged equally and in the end I think luck was the most important parameter of the game. Again ath|dem was playing really good on rail and make a nice amount of frags. SP didn't do as good as in his previous dm3. On the quadside zipgun showed us some oldschool power with a few more then decent quadruns. ECF won this game with a 3frag difference.
For the final map something weird happend (in my eyes that is). Ath had the fragadvantage so it was up to them to chose which clan would start eliminating the maps. Maps left were : dm5/dm6/dm7/dm8/next1/next2. Don't ask me why but ath chose ecf to eliminate the first map. This means that in the end ecf would have the choice between the 2 remaining maps. At the end of the elimination ecf chose dm5 above dm6 and so the game was to be started. Once again we saw a very even game. When ath make a 20 frag difference in 5minutes, ecf would even the score 5minutes later and so on...untill the end of game when anything was possible. ECF's hero on this map was L3W, who showed a great deal of mapknowlegde and overall a good aim. Boosted with chain and red armors he crushed the ath players at the railgun, chaingun, rocket launcher, etc. Mainly thanks to him ECF win the final map with - again - only 2 frags difference.
This was, despite the trashtalking and whining from both sides, one of the most exciting dm3 games I've ever seen. Both teams showed great sportmanship after the game, like it ought to be! Congrats to ECF for coming back from 0-2 and well played ath for keeping the scores extremely close in the last 3 maps!
GG!
