INTRODUCTION
It wasn't clear which team was supposed to be the "hometeam" and which one wasn't and, thus, we couldn't really determine with what map to start.
As ergo was pretty fair except that mobzter had a 50ms ping, everyone agreed to play on that server but with stop being the hometeam.
Q2DM1 - stop's map choice
As expected, stop picked dm1 and dm3. And it started pretty good for them, purri quickly secured the rail and started a frag routine. Mobzter took control of the lift although Jeo never really let him in peace there.
The other HBQ's were running around the map, looking for some weapons and armours and a good opportunity to take back the rail and secure the mega.
After 9 minutes, stop had a ~30 frags lead mainly thanks to purri's fine railing. No team could take a firm grip on the mega at this point but then, Jeo had a the good idea to help slonken at rail. And they both removed purri from there. Slonken could install himself there and started to rail-rape the stop guys a lot there.
During this time, NaSSaL and ZORRE could take control of the room and they both started to frag. stop only had the lift secure and were trying to attack the room from there, but they were getting devastated by HBQ before they could even enter the room.
When 5 minutes were left, HBQ had the lead but stop were still giving them a hard time. Then Jeo took control of the lift and now, HBQ had the map completely locked. They started to totally rape stop with MANY chain and rail frags. During the 3 last minutes, HBQ increased the gap with 60 frags and eventually won with a comfortable score.
Q2DM2 - HBQ's map choice
HBQ had decided to field only swedish player for dm1 but, logically, they decided to use Gerdt and arch instead of Jeo and NaSSaL for dm2.
Right from the start, it revealed to be a very wise choice: Gerdt and arch secured the RA and, despite a steady grenade/rocket spam by stop, they could tool up with armours and rails and start to frag them.
The stop guys decided to go for the quad and they (ph if I remember well) managed to take most of them in the beginning. The 2 HBQ brothers (slonken and zorre) had many troubles at that part of the map. Unfortunately for stop, their quadruns weren't so successful because of a good communication inside the HBQ team and, of course, because of Gerdt's BFG/rails.
For 15 minutes, HBQ had a small lead. They weren't really in danger until 2 stop guys managed to grab a rail... Those guys were pogo and purri. They managed to kick arch from the RA lift and started to frag a lot.
But then, they left the quad part without control and HBQ could make a good use of them. Thanks to well coordinated attacks, HBQ regained control of the lift at the very end and won the map.
Very impressive play by Gerdt here I must say.
Q2DM3 - stop's map choice
The "former" stop team was already very strong on this map, now that they had guys like pogo, ph and purri, I knew HBQ would have a hard time.
Stop had the better start, they took the invul while HBQ took the quad. HBQ could take a couple of frags with it but the invul runner killed HBQ's quad guy and left HBQ without control of the rail.
From there, purri started to rape HBQ with insane rail kills as usual. Slonken and Zorre were trying to boot him from that place but unsuccessfully.
The Quad place was more disputed, Gerdt and NaSSaL were up against ph and pogo and, most of the time, the latter were victorious... because they were helped by mobzter who was doing a good job at the RL. Stop took most of the invul's but, it has to be mentioned that
Pogo fell in the lava with one of them!
After 10 minutes, HBQ made a huge comeback. Slonken and Zorre managed to take back the rail while Gerdt and NaSSaL made a couple of deadly quadruns. The score was now even. But stop attacked the rail together and took back its control. Purri could rape again but the stop guys couldn't get quads anymore. So the game was very close during the last few minutes.
Gerdt took the last quad and HBQ was 10 frags behind during the last minute, unfortunately he only had the blaster so he couldn't close the gap. Stop wins this map and showed a very solid game.
Q2DM6 - HBQ's map choice
HBQ seemed very confident when they decided to pick q2dm6. To be honest, I didn't know they were so good on that map and I thought they'd have a very hard time especially because Purri and pogo were up against them.
But I was wrong...
Right from the start, Gerdt took control of the BFG. Mobzter made 2 or 3 attempts to get it back but quickly gave up and Gerdt didn't die for 19 minutes or something.
Slonken first had some problems to take control of the Rail, purri was over there. But after a while, he managed to grab a rail and the RA and started a real frag fest.
Talking about frag fest... NaSSaL's position wasn't very determined, instead of doing a classic pos, he decided to do some nassalism: fragging like crazy with whatever shitty weapon he could pick, in the corridors, outside and basically everywhere on the map. When he was low on health, he thought a quad would be helpful and went for it.
The regular quadrunner for HBQ was arch though and, as expected, he did it
with style.
There's nothing much to say for this map, stop got hammered for 20 minutes and they kinda gave up when 5 minutes were left. They never managed to hold a position for more than 1 minute, HBQ's teamplay was just flawless.
HBQ made one of the most impressive dm6 performance I've seen so far.
CONCLUSION:
Except for the last map, Stop really gave a good match to HBQ. Nevertheless, HBQ showed some top-notch teamplay and incredible skills + map knowledge. Congratulations for winning EuroQ2L twice in a row!
