Awesome vs eA didn't dissapoint, as you got to see couple of the best mid-European players and two legendary oldschoolers from Sweden battle in your favourite FPS game, otherwise known as Q2.
DM1 - Awesome's choice DM1 started out quite chaotic, as usual. After a couple of minutes 8 seemed to get better control of the mega room, meanwhile the eA secured the rail. Score was quite tight, 11:17 after three minutes of playing. Few minutes later eA rushed the room and cleared it, however they could not hold it for long, as 8 controlled the lift and soon attacked the base again. After 10 minutes the game was still practically tied: 51:54. For a moment eA rushed the room again but just a tad later the control was again lost. When about 5 minutes were left, 8 begin to get their shit together and 3:50 before the end the game is tied at 78:78. The last minutes don't go well for eA, as they try hard not give the victory to 8, but they don't have enough tricks left to surprise 8. A special word about Nace. His RL use cannot be considered technique, it's art. I think there are very few (maybe none) in Q2 scene who can win against Nace with a RL. It's simply awesome to see him play again. Revo did also quite good with the rail, and of course Necro and emptyhead (dx?) need mentioning too, as they were the key to 8's victory. Awesome wins 120:95
DM3 - eA's choice DM3 starts as a real nightmare for 8, they get raped in every part of the map. After three minutes of playing they are down 5:28. Nace is doing a pretty good job cleaning the house with a deadly SSG+Quad combination and the rest of the team is supporting him nicely. However, 8 are not a group of wusses, so they wake up from their day dreaming and start fragging. After five minutes of playing they are down only by 15 frags. Rest of the map goes pretty much in the same key, eA holding a small lead over 8. Wizard went crazy with the railgun in the last minutes and started to pull off crazy swedish railwhoring, which included a nasty doublerail. Altough eA's game wasn't perfect, they still showed that swedes have the DM3 gene in better condition than the rest. eA wins 126:142
Now they kick maps and to my surprise, they play DM7 as the third map. This is very odd, considering that Frenzy and necro are probably two of the top DM7 players in the world. I would've expected to see DM7 gone first. DM7 was also very tight and close for the first ten minutes, but eA couldn't hold the RA very well and 8 started to beat them down. There is not much to say about DM7, except that Nace again played an awesome game, but he was not strong enough to single-handedly lead eA to victory. eA came closer and closer to 8, but there wasn't enough time to catch them this time. Awesome wins 183:165
A great whine-free match, pure pleasure to admin and specc. I would expect great things from eA, since they are getting better now every day. If history has taught us anything, it's that you shouldn't take swedes lightly in Q2. But Awesome shows great potential too, especially with necro and Frenzy on the front line. There's some interesting times ahead...
