This promised to be a nice match, since both teams should be on the same skill level and should have real good q2 experience. After a bit of waiting after the poles to finish their previous games the match started.

1st map - dm3
The game started with the usual FFAish running around with grenades, trying to make sense where your teammates are and so on. Solaris got off to a better start, they were leading 6:4 after the first minute. For the next few minutes it seemed 3c was completely lost and they had some kind of a score only because of Lukah, who was doing a helluva job keeping 3c from being completely raped. However, within a minute or so 3c quickly got their shit together. It's 15:42 to the end and the score is already tied at 30:30. Slowly, but steadily 3c begins to take the lead. Solaris's teamplay seems to shatter, but they still have a possibility for a comeback, because 3c is leading only thanks to Lukah, who is pulling crazy frags left and right. Solaris come closer for a few minutes, but then 3c slips away again, who is leading by 22 frags after 10 minutes.
Again Solaris begins to catch up and when 7:30 is left, they are behind only by 9 frags. But that proves too much. In the last 5 minutes 3c holds their lead and they win 135:157.
Man of the match: Lukah. Without him 3c would've been destroyed from the beginning.

2nd map - dm3
Whee, again dm3. First minute is chaos, as usual. But then things take a really grim turn for Solaris. After 2 and a half minutes of raping they are already behind 3:23. Now Ace is leading 3c to victory. However, the party does not last long for 3c. Solaris wake up from their day-dreaming and after 5 minutes of playing they are down only by 5 frags. For the next 10 minutes the frag difference stays around 10, until Solaris make a surprising comeback and at the 6:42 mark the score is tied at 85:85. For the next few minutes the game is really nervous, as the score stays essentially tied. No one is really taking control of the map, people are fragging and dying left and right. But Solaris wear down again, just 4 minutes before the end of the match. From there until the end 3c manages to hold their lead and they win 128:146.

What can I say about the match? It was pretty awesome. DM3 is one hell of a tp map, nothing like the gay-festival that some people call DM2. There were a lot of cool frags, even double rails, and lot of funny moments: dives in to the lava, teamkills, serial frags etc. There were pretty thrilling moments in the game also when the score was tied. I think Solaris lost because in the critical moment 3c showed a bit more teamplay and they were more deadly with the railgun. Solaris did not take full advantage of their quad runs, most of which were cut quite short. Since Solaris lacks a powerful leader figure, who can bring the team together when the shit hits the fan, they have to concentrate more on teamplay. That was the key tonight.

It's great to see Solaris and 3c in EQ2L and I have a feeling there will be more great matches from these two clans. GG.
