Pogo try 'r_override_textures 1' and 'r_texture_formats "tpj"' (or "pjt", or "jtp" - eventually one of those will make your textures come up in a proper order).
And actually this very set of demos is here mostly due to skuller's involvment.
Why is that kolt? The only reason i still prefer regular demos to mvd is that mvd only plays with q2pro, which loads my paks in a weird order so my q2 looks like shit. But multi-pov is the way to go imo, hope it will work in r1q2 too eventually.
