Here is a first real playoff game this season and it was worth watching. We had a small fight over the server before the start of the game. Rebels wanted to play on europe because Dragunov had 60 ping in Poland and GOA wanted to play on polish server as everyone else beside Dragunov pinged perfectly in Poland and also Gjubbi and dza had jumpy ping in .eu. Clans agreed to have a home/away.
q2dm5 was first map played and it was GOA's pick. Played on mhs accordingly. Can't make a long report here because I couldn't follow the game all the time. The way I saw it that GOA put more effort in securing the quad area than their opponents and when they couldn't get the desired powerup they managed to kill enemy quaders before thay could do any real damage. RA was coming and going from one side to another but maybe a little more often left in Rebels' posesion. All in all a good start from GOA followed by an even game and +20 victory by GOA.
q2next1 a mappick by Rebels and played on Aster. Most remarkable here is game by ne[r]on on mega and soulblighter on lower RL. GOA has the quad area secured most of the time, but when it came to quadrunning their efforts were burried either by nicely timed Rebels' attacks or sneaky rockets from the basement. Leaving the quad area in opponents posesion worked out just fine for Rebels here and we have a 1:1. Unfortunate power failure occured in Gdansk taking away Irvin from us... Good that [r] had several substitutes availible on the server.
q2dm2 another pick by Rebels and again at Aster. GOA had a nice start with RA, but lost it after 5 minutes bue to neon's quadrun. Then neon and KuBi took over RA and started to punish GOA for that mistake. GOA regrouped at quad but couldn't lock it down thus being unable to make perfect quadruns. Rebels constantly pressured the quadarea retaking some positions from time to time. Several clean quadgrabs by GOA didn't end in RA retake but only helped to keep some score margin in this game. Confident win by Rebels and 2:1.
q2dm6 and we switch back to mhs as [r] homeserver. From the start it felt like GOA know what to do here as Rebels seemd a little surprised by the ammount of lava in those narow hallways. GOA took over their positions and only neon was opposing them on BFG. Most fights happened around the quad area and players often left their outposts to secure the quad thus loosing the stand. Despite GOA grabbing more quads than opponents their quadruns were not very effective. As it occured to me most frags were made here when players played positional war and not leaving for ffa. Hard tho confident win by GOA here. 2:2
q2dm7: Rebels having a better frag difference first picked the MHS server, but then reminded that opponents in this case pick the map decided to pick dm7 leaving GOA with a right to play on Aster. Can't really comment any particulare parts of the game. Rebels made a first push in frags, GOA pushed back, Rebels went forward again, GOA chased. Last 10 minutes Rebels maintained a fluctuating +10 fraglead (+5 till +15). To my mind GOA felt the anxiety to triumph here and made nerveous mistakes like unneeded temkills and pointless unorganized rushes. Rebels were more fit and accurate ang got their deserved victory.
A hard fight like expected. GG both!
Here we have two mvd2 demos: q2dm5 and q2dm6 followed by two demos from ne[r]on q2next1+q2dm2. waiting for dm7...
