Well, I can't make this new scheduled time. Guess I don't get to play now, hf guys. It's a shame the scheduling wasn't handled more professionally (people changing groups every day, scheduled game times changing the day before a match is played) but oh well.
Oh and lag (delay) isn't that big of a deal, the only thing it really effects is moving jumps/platforms and air jet things. Spikes, on the other hand, are gay, like apkis.
High ping (100, 200 or 300+) is not affecting the runs a lot unless you are laggy and shit. There are some maps where high ping is a disadvantage but theres not many of them. Ive played with around 320 ping during the first stage of the tournament and I was able to win the game anyway. Satt3r, from my experience high ping will not affect sdj's, hitting the rail etc.
Jumpmod is very different from TDM where you HAVE to have a good ping to compete on a high level.
Of course it is better to have lower ping but if you are good enough, you will advance to the next round no matter what the ping will be. If you wont, you cant blame the ping.
I remember the days when my main server was the Australian Crikeys- I had 400-500 ping there and i was able to get 1sts all the time.
Anyway, good luck guys and remember this: If you are a top player you should be able to adjust to the server if necessary, not opposite.
Hmm.. You should be able to adapt to a ping of 200-250.. Atleast I'm able to on TS, and I know a lot of euros play on TS because it's kinda "new", compared to WP, and slightly more active now adays..
But yeah, if it's lagspikes, it can be impossible to play.. I had some major lagspikes for the first 3 maps of my quarter final.. (lagg 1 min, then ok for about 1 min, then lagg again, and so on) We have to discuss it a little, and come back to this tomorrow.. Hopefully we'll work out something that's good for both parts..
i think you misunderstand, skel. i am very thankful that we got the ts server, as im sure all the westies are. i checked the bergon.net server earlier. 260 ping with spikes every once in a while. took over 5 minutes to download the map it was on (around 700kb). ping has alot to do with jump, imo. impacts off the line, hitting the rail, ramps, standing doubles, etc etc etc... if made to play on this bergon.net server for the rest of the tourney, wouldnt it make sense to have 7 players that are in the same boat pingwise play together, rather than have one player be handicapped vs 7 that arent? most euros ive seen ping the same as me, or even better than, to the TS server.
First of all, NA people should be thankful we even got the TS server! It wasn't really one of our plans, we just did it to be kind.. Ping isn't really a big deal in q2jump, as long as it's stable.. So what server we play on, is kinda unrelevant.. But, the plan is to play every quarter-, semi-, and final on the Bergon.net Tourney server..
Second, imho, there are 4 really strong players in both groups, but both of you (Satt3r & Leviathan) have the possibility of fighting for a top 4 spot, in whatever group it is..
so... whoever you move will have absolutely no chance at all. why not move someone that would actually stand a chance of moving on? leviathan and myself have already made plans to be available at the time group D, and are unable to change our schedule for group A. will group D be playing on TS server, or will it be played on this... GTV[?] server? doesnt seem well thought out to change someone from USA to group A, when we would all ping 200+ to this euro server, lowering our chances even further.
