In spite of a couple of players not showing up for their tournament game, group A featured a nice competition between two American players for the first place in the group. Ultimately it was  Faderjok who took down all of his opponents. Castro and  metzger also advanced to division 1.
 Randy,  Greenjumper and Shpongle will have to try their luck in division 2.

Now that the sign-ups for the jump tournament #9 are over, it is time to announce the groups for the first stage of the tournament. They can be seen on the right side of the webpage. And here is the schedule for the group stage:
Group A: Thursday, May 22nd at 20:00 CET
Group B: Saturday, May 24th at 18:00 CET
Group C: Sunday, May 25th at 21:00 CET
Group D: Monday, May 26th at 20:00 CET
Group E: Tuesday, May 27th at 19:00 CET

In this thread I will also briefly explain how the group stage will work. For more detailed rules click here:
- For this stage of the tournament, each player can choose 1 homemap from the tournament map pool that can be found here: , or on the tournament server. Make sure to check the version of the map on the tournament server as it may be different to WP's or TS's version etc.
- All group games are played on the server with ip: 78.46.124.38:27915, the server's password is "tourney". During the tournament games only players and admins are allowed to join this server, the spectators should connect to the GTV server with ip 78.46.124.38:27916 (no password required)
- Each group game consists of 8 maps played on a single occasion (for groups with 7 members there will be 7 homemaps + 1 random map, for groups with 6 members, 6 homemaps + 2 random maps)
-The timelimit for every map is 15 minutes
-3 top players from each group advance to DIV 1, the remaining players go to DIV 2.
TIP: if possible always make sure to at least COMPLETE the map during a tournament game as there are points awarded for it. Many players aim to get a very fast time and fail to complete the maps losing easy points.

The sign-ups for the JUMP TOURNAMENT #9 are now OPEN! They will end on 15th of May.
In order to sign up in this tournament you must have an account on this website. If you don't, simply click on "register" on the left side of the webpage. Then all it takes is filling some details and activating the account using your email account. After registering log in and choose the "sign ups" from the menu on the left hand side.
There is just a couple more things we'd like you to do:
To make sure that you're able to take part in the tournament games we need you to let us know when it is convenient for you to play. The sign ups will last 2 weeks and the first tournament games will start roughly a week after they finish. Therefore we expect the tournament to start after the 20th of May and run for a few weeks. So let us know (by adding a comment below this thread or talking directly to me (KroPP)), when in this period of time you can play and we'll set the schedule to make sure it fits everyone (make sure to include the time zone). For example: "I can only play wednesday-saturday from 8pm CET"
Lastly, to make sure that during the tournament games you will have the full 15 minutes per map, we have compiled a file with all the maps and textures you will need. You can download it from: Many maps have been made and added to the servers in the last few months so surely every player is missing some. During the tournament games no extra time will be given to those who have to download the maps. It is your responsibility to get them now! |

After a 2 year break it is finally the time for the next quake 2 jump tournament!
With a stable server created specifically for the purposes of this tournament (courtesy of fish), a carefully selected map pool and many active admins ready to supervise the games, we're hoping to see many players signing up for the jump tournament #9.
This goal we can not achieve on our own and so we'd like to ask you ALL for a big favour: spread the news about the tournament, talk to your quake 2 (jump) friends, both active and inactive. This tournament is a great opportunity to bring some of the oldschool players back into this game. Who wouldn't want to see players like the_polish_guy, slayer, silver, saix, kenpachi, opkez, nl-dex and many others jumping again and taking down 1st places. With a bit of luck and your help, we may even get the legendary WOOTWOOT to sign up.
All details about tournament sign ups, groups, schedule and prizes (!) will be revealed on this website in the upcoming days and weeks so make sure to visit it regularly. |
