I would just like to remind people about the homepage of q2jump.net!
At !!! Surprisingly! =)
It has all the stats for the q2jump.net server, and its own forum where you can create posts if you have any technical issues, new maps that you've made, aswell as posts about anything non-jump related stuff that's on your mind!
Also remember to leave a shout in the shoutbox! =)
There's also romours about a page for the german q2jump server!! Glad to see the scene is still active!
We'll try to keep q2jump alive forever!

The competition started in a fairly unusual matter as the players were presented with the "fake map" which only had first few jumps of the actual competition map.. After few minutes players started to realize that something is wrong and the map was changed to the real one. Some players did not quite understand the mapmaker's joke and were a bit confused but then the real competition has began.
Although some players experienced technical problems, it took only over an hour for the first players to complete the map.
The first two; the winners were:
1. Goblin 
2. Killa 
CONGRATULATIONS!
The map was also completed by no other than lofasking 
The map was complete by another (noob) player, KroPP few hours after it was released.
5th player completed the map. Congratulations to n00k!e
The competition however is still not over, as the players can continue completing the map.

On Sunday 30 December at 20:00 CET there will be a very special competition on the german q2 jump server (courtesy of the server owner mr fish). Our great map maker 4bidden is releasing his newest, challenging map and is looking to see who can complete it first. Anyone can take part in the competition and every player who manages to complete the map (with no time limit) will be rewarded, but the true winners will be the 2 players who can complete the map first. Whether you would like to attempt to complete the map or just watch these mad players trying, join the server and enjoy.

We are almost over with 8th jump tournament (one game for 11-18th places left) and it is the right time to sum up and estimate everything.
Positive things:
1. There were 36 signed players for tournament. This is still awesome amount of players because the q2 scene is simply dying.
2. Many high skilled jumpers signed aswell. Even not all of them are active.
3. 2-3 jump servers for tournament.
4. Many admins around who controlled the games.
5. Positive communication between players and admins.
Negative things:
1. Players still keep not showing up without a reason
2. Slow download servers.
3. Different maplist on each server
4. Conflicts in map versions on each server
5. Servers getting down before/during tournament.
The conclusion
Since I am the head-admin and a regular player I will summarize the things according to that fact. It was 8th jump tournament and so far the worst. And here is the answer why. Group stage was pretty smooth. Only one group stressed me, as an admin. Playoffs stage was more stressed. I had problems with finding a proper time for all the players. The problem started with the 1st jump tournament and this season it was really huge. Plus again, problems with jump tournament servers. The main reason the 8th jump tournament was the worst, is the worst final ever. No, it is not because I got only 5th place (to be honest, it is really high place if you look who played), no it is not because KroPP or santher got in top3. It was all about the servers we played and the maps we got. Most of final players would agree. And they would agree about the fact that the best jump server was , is, and will be former Wireplay jump server. Why? In epic jumping times, when server had admins like Rambler, Crom, of course Neur0, the maplist was really smooth, most likely unfriendly for jump starters. All the maps were filtrated, accepting only smooth maps (yes, there are like 200 maps which should not be on the server but they appeared later, not in 2004-2008). However, we couldnt use wireplay tournament server because of 2 reasons: server is very unstable with many players and we didnt have admins there. The servers we played had bad settings: wrong maplist, with like 1000 maps who should not be accepted, slow and strange downloadings. I am not against the maps I have never played before. But those maps are bad choice because they are not seriously tested. Lets be honest: half maps we played in finals were not suitable for it. It ruined the fun, the joy we could take from such a beautiful event with so many top players.
Despite the negative things happened to us I would still want to say huge thanks to server owners, UniBG, Neur0, quadz. Huge thanks to admins draxi, santher, KroPP, Teioch. And huge thanks to those who enjoyed the tournament, enjoyed the way it went, didnt get angry with my decisions. And thanks to all players who played and thanks to those who deserved to be thanked.
Next season, if we are going to have it, will be different. I will run it only if I have a server on my own or the owner of the server will be an active player who are online every day. Now we have none of them.
