Hehe, now this was another entertaining game to admin. I came into this knowing that Turkey has a really really hard time finding good servers outside Turkey where they ping somewhat good. So, first priority was to see if we could find a server where both teams pinged almost the same. It wasn't a simple task, but we did travel to servers ranging from Croatia and Czech Republic, to the other side of the Atlantic. On all servers we tried, the Turkey players had a ping disadvantage, so they really wanted a home/away game. Accidentally we somehow lost the FIN team on a server along the way, and couldnt find them as Damiah suddenly had to go (gg gf!). That delayed the game a bit, as we sat there wondering what happened with the Fi team. But Dimmo showed up and saved the day, and it was clear that home/away was the way to go. But first we had to find a somewhat fair 3rd and last server, in case a 3rd map was needed (and with those pings I was predicting that being the case). So, again we decided to play the last game on the mHs server (German server), were pings were 90-50 or so. Anyway, even though the serverpicking took quite some time, neither of the teams whined or showed unsportsmanlike behavior, it was all quite easy to admin.
Turkey's server - Finland's map: Q2DM2
Hehe, now this was an intresting game! Clearly the Finland team suffered from a pretty bad ping (200 at average, but Foen had 280 while dimmo had around 130), but boy did they put up a fight! I must say all respect to Foen for his play on that ping, showing that good teamplay can make up for some of that ping. Thaigo as well showed great play at times, took a while to get used to the ping, but he ran around below the RA with rail and fragged quite a few. Even a had a very nice air handgrenade on Foen by RA, but on that ping every teamkill is forgiven. Teamkills, now that was something the FIN team did a lot, they fragged eachother almost as much as the other team at times. Anyway, the RA was never held for long by either team, a lot of takeovers, some fancy ala Dimmo's nadejumping to RA, or others just accidentally when somehow the RA was empty and free for anyone to take. By quad, the battle was just as hard. Dimmo and Str1ker being the main players in this area, both hugging the quad and both having quite a few successfull quadruns. Not sure what team who got the most quads, but think it was pretty even. Dimmo as always playing in his own style, trying things that only Dimmo does. Str1ker played really solid, proved once again to be one of Turkey's best players. Digital had a hard time holding that RL lift, but he did a good job there, and showed nice teamwork the whole map through, allthough his score doesn't give credit to his effort. ArAyA seemed to be hellbent on holding that mega lift (almost ColD style, if you watched the previous game Turkey played on q2dm2, vs Russia), but he did do a good job holding back enemy quadruns, and wasn't as stationary as the mentioned ColD. LaStHeRo and Blade fought by RA. Anyway, the score was close the whole game through, the first 5 min or so the teams were dead even, then TUR managed to get RA and racked up a few frags, having about 7-10 frags lead for the next 10 minutes, but never more. Then, near the end FIN suddenly managed to rack up some frags, mainly cause Dimmo ran quad very well, and Thaigo/Foen working well on the RA lift. Think a 3 minutes or so near the end, the teams were practically tied, but the last 2 minutes the TUR team just got the quads and had the RA, and managed to squeeze a 20 frag win out of the last couple minutes. It was a close game, and a good watch, even though pings were as unfair as they come.
Finland's server - Turkey's map: Q2DM7
Think someone mentioned USA choice of map (q2dm6) on away server vs Poland was the worst mapchoice ever in the history of NDML. Turkey chosing q2dm7 on Finland's server cant be that far behind. This was rape, in every sense of the word. I actually felt bad for the TUR team for a while, but then I just enjoyed the playfullness showed by Dimmo when he ran around the map. Not sure if Turkey ever had a score above 0, and Finland just took control of RA right away. Digital and Foen being the true heroes of the RA room, both doing a pretty flawless job cleaning it. Thaigo on the other hand ran around the map, fragging like crazy all over. Watched him stand absolutely still down by SSG ladder, waiting for TUR players to fall down and fragging them instantly with a well placed SSG shot. Think he got 3-4 players straight within 20 seconds or so. The TUR players did their best hiding, but you know as well as anyone that hiding on q2dm7 is really really hard. At times all of them were at the upper rl area, but then Dimmo and Thaigo and whoever had a gun, chased them to death. Then the raping started over again. It wasn't close, and the scores doesn't lie. Finland totally dominated. Server seemed to be really crappy, at least for me and my fellow spectator, so I was glad the last map was to be played on another server. And kudos to the TUR players for showing great attitude not whining about ping or server when taking such a beating. Think they were either in a state of shock, or realized how outskilled they were on this particular map. As they revealed after the game, they hadn't really played that map much at all. Well, guess it's not needed to say that the FIN team had. A couple times at least.
German server - Finland's map: Q2DM8
Well, this map once again showed that FIN is just a bit too good for this unexperienced (NDML wise) TUR team. The game started out fairly close, at least for the first couple minutes. Foen and Thaigo seemed to be holding the rail area, while Dimmo ran the powerups the whole game through (and did so in style). Digital worked the lower levels, gathering rocketlaunchers and chainguns and probably a hyperblaster here and there too. For the first 5 minutes or so, no powershield had spawned, so the players started worrying the powershield was disabled. Just as I was to say it wasn't, Dimmo picked one up, and declared proudly that "no, it's on!! I got powershield now!! OMG OMG!" or something like that. Think he actually got 2 or 3 powershield spawns in a row, cause he handed out powershileds to Digital and then a minute later or so, Thaigo got his as well. Finland with 3 guys with ps is hard to play against, and Turkey experienced that first hand. Not really much they could do, they clinged on to the hyper area at times, but dimmo just ran the map very well, messing up any sort of base the Turkey players tried to hold. Digital was soon taken out though, and lost his ps, but still Thaigo and Dimmo delivered huge amount of damage and ran the map very well as a green duo. Anyway, think Turkey realized early on this was going nowhere, and they seemed to settle with the defeat. Think they were happy enough with the q2dm2 game, and just resignated by the fact that they have no servers outside Turkey where they can compete with other Euro teams. It's sad, but it's true. A convincing victory by Finland in the end!
Again, thanks to both teams for showing patience and being fairly easy to admin, other than the fact Damiah's gf caused some delay cause we lost the FIN team on some server. Think everyone agreed the game was played in a good spirit, only bad things were the pings and the delay here and there. But that's life! GGs and good luck and so forth. Poor ru.wicked though, he wanted to spec the FIN team, but kept getting chased off the servers to make room for the TUR and FIN players.
