New poll: R1Q2 anticheat2006-11-28 12:50 | daelmun
I just thought I'd put up a poll here, because I was curious about how many here who are using an operating system (OS) that is compatible with R1Q2-anticheat

Requirements:
The anticheat module is only compatible with 32-bit Windows 2000/XP/2003.

I thought it would be intresting to see what the outcome was, before leagues would consider enforcing such an anticheat.

Just to clear up this topic, to support another client (eg q2pro), I'd really need the client to be somewhat stable, as each new .exe requires explicit support for the reasons mentioned already. This would only require a new anticheat.dll if something major changes between versions, the rest of it can be handled by the anticheat server alone as I allowed for such in the protocol.

i just don't see any reason why should be anticheat.dll updated when new client version is out... checking is done on client side and checks are sent to the anticheat server (anticheat server is checking hashes... not gaming server).. that's how it works.. so if there's a binary check then anticheat server has to be updated.. not anticheat.dll nor gaming server...

mmm...
You wish to tell, what there is one server through which there are checks on valid the client? I thought, check is done on a game server which receives the information through anticheat.dll, located on the client. In that case, I really was mistaken.

why do you think that you need to update every gaming server? i don't think that you know how anticheat works...

hz... who will update all gaming servers when client will updated ?...
i think. anticheat will good only when clients will stable (in some versions).

so? if you want to calculate new checksum do you need new anticheat.dll? no... you just need to update anticheat server with new checksum and that's not a problem (think so)
anticheat.dll was updated more often than r1q2 afaik these days..

Well. As it is possible to verify the correctness of client? For example, by checking check sum, but it changes with each build of client...
I think, R1CH update anticheat.dll with each new build of r1q2...

antecheat based (as i known) on:
- check sum
- function adresses

so while q2pro on development, not possible to add anticheat support .

many ppl use nocheat because they don't know how to configure r1q2 and they are lazy to read the readme or post the problem they have at r1q2 forum...

and r1ch is right.. nobody is stopping skuller from implementation of the anticheat.. i think he'll implement it sooner or later (maybe after he finish the mvd protocol)

Once the MVD/GTV protocol is stabilized, I plan to support it in R1Q2. There's also nothing stopping other servers such as q2pro supporting anticheat server side too.

Anticheat is, certainly, well.

But at present there are two problems:

one - small (probably): anticheat does not work with nocheat (so?), however many continue to use it.

The second problem - q2pro GTV.
As, q2pro continues to develop, enter its support in anticheat.dll it is not obviously possible (in the near future at least)

So, if it is required GTV, it will not work on a server where check on anticheat.dll is required.

Support for 32 bit Vista will be coming once I get a copy and the hardware to run it emo.
