Because of horrible coverage of the Quad-Damage event (meaning no live coverage whatsoever, and very few vods being put up), I might as well put up some news here:

Consolation Final
The consolation final turned out to be a battle to decide who the best q2 player at the event was. Most people expected

purri to win the q2 map, and gave

DaHanG a better chance on the q4-map, but neither of these predictions were correct. On ztn2dm3

DaHanG started out in control, and racked up 8 frags pretty quick, but then

purri took control showing his rail and reducing the lead to only a couple frags and then made it a one frag game.

DaHanG showing an effective defense managed to take the control back, and in what must be a horrific minute for the Swede, the American racked up 4-5 frags off the spawn to secure the win.

DaHanG won ztn2dm3 with 20-7.

Purri on the other hand got his revenge and took home the q4-map monsoon 10-7, leaving either qw or q3 to be played for the last map. It ended with quakeworld's dm4 - the bad place, where

DaHanG took a convincing win 32-4 to secure the third spot.

	Ah, yes you're right gravgon. It's pointless to argue the truth with people who aren't worth it. However, FYI muerte, dm1 is one of my worst maps. I despise constant dm1 pickups. Also, for the record I plan on attending the lan that dahang mentioned, it should be fun.

	Muerte, encourage Damiah and/or some other top Europeans to come to the Q2 lan in Orlando, Florida December 8th/9th. I've only played one European in Quake 2 on LAN, and I won. The burden is not on me to prove my skills. Nevertheless, there will be $2,000+ US on the line which is more than enough to cover the flight. Let's see how the games turn out with audio timers being disabled and LAN ping ;D.

Please just ask purri about the situation the next time you see him, you're just unaware about DaHanG's gaming skill, being that just of recently he got extremely good VERY quick. I'm talking about within the last 8 months. Just ask scooby, he will tell you the same. DaHanG is one of the best rage duelers. muerte, you are a complete idiot. 1) DaHanG has never lost to granny, not even once. Granny even tried posting fake demos of him owning dahang (which were verified as fake by the server owner) because dahang rocks him so bad. 2) DaHanG is better than careem. 3) purri is an over-all better q2 player, but dahang is EXTREMELY good on rage. Just because your dumbass didn't know this doesn't mean it's not true. Try to get that through your thick head. 4) If you don't believe what I'm saying, ask an ACTUAL top tier player like purri himself, and he will tell you the same thing.

	DaHanG is an excellent gamer, and excels at rage. Purri played well. He could have won, but he didn't. The entire NA tdm scene is not just newbs, and having that mentality is idiotic. Others will vouch for me in saying that I called exactly what happened (purri picking q2, dahang picking rage, and dahang winning). So please, show a little respect (i'm sure purri would want you to) and stop making excuses, and get over it. It's q2, not the end of the world. ps. funny how the nationality shit talk just continues, and my polite challenge remains ignored. It's obvious what's going on here, gg logic.

	Imo Purri really fucked up in a first frag of the game... challenged with a rail a guy who had 200/200 and who was attacking with chaingun?! Now that is really, i mean really dumb. After that DaHang killed him 7 times including some spawnfrags, which are part of a dueling. Purri made a comeback, getting help from DaHang when he made some really bad moves. Eventually he managed to slow purri down, with his well aimed rockets, until purri attacked in frustration and died, and the rest of the game was lucky for DaHang again, since he got lots of spawnfrags. Overall i think purri would have ran over him IF he would have got the first frag, but he never did get it! One map games are like in every game/sport, you win and get the glory and that is excatly what DaHang should get... He won top5 q2 dueler in a world, when it actually matters, which the most of us have never done and never will do. All credits to him and shame he lives in USA, so he can't fight such a games too often :/ To Muerte, you just proved how retard you are with your history story... You ran out of excuses why purri lost, so you had to bring up shit like that. People have got banned from here for less... afaik. Right admins? About skins, i think, i read that they were playing with r1chs skins? Or am I totally wrong? Anyway, counting out skins I know lots of player, who are playing with ordinary quake2, so it is not a thing what makes you a better player. And yes... what would i know. 	A few people in #tastyspleen were predicting a DaHanG victory. In some cases they were predicting an easy victory, which was retarded. I think both players more than lived up to the hype. I'm so glad they got to play this match. It was the highlight of the tournament for me.

	I think the settings in r1q2 are more than enough to make q2 look ok, if the big screen had the same settings as the vod then i can understand it sucked since it was 100% default = all orange. If they just lowered coloredlightmaps and tweaked the gamma/brightness a bit it would look great even with the default pak.

	If you're talking about the Q2 game between fox and tox, it's pretty normal that it was boring since they're total noobs missing all jumps and making Q2 looks very slow. But if you were talking about the purri-dahang game, I thought it was a very exciting game and if people found it boring it's solely because they had no clue of what was going on in the game. Also, I personally found QW to be the most boring of all the quakes played.

	Muerte: I know the brightskins are nowhere close to what most people use, but they were going to go with vanilla skins prior to my suggestions which would have been far worse. Regarding the final, Q2 definitely needs some work to look good on the big screen. Even Q1 was way more exciting, Q2 seemed extremely boring, but that could also be due to the play styles of both players as well.

	Long before quakecon, it was common knowledge to those who play DaHanG frequently on rage that it might not be the wisest choice of purri if he were to pick q2 against DaHanG, being that he is among the very best rage duelers in the world. Purri could have won, but honestly, on that map, DaHanG had slightly better odds. As for arch, maybe he should try beating some of the dm1 only NA newbs consistently before he talks shit to dahang, being that I've seen some destroy him myself, by total nobodies.

	Don't think anyone is putting down purri because he lost the map, everyone respects purri and his game and what he has done for q2, but I really don't see why anyone should discredit dahang for winning either, he did it the hard way. Both did great, top 4 in a strong field of players, also showing that noone can touch q2 players at the moment in their own game

	Wow, this is a pretty sad display. You didn't hear Americans ripping on purri when he crushed Doze in QCon 2006. So what if you can beat DaHanG on Q2DM1, with a higher ping arch, why didn't you goto QCon and beat him there then, you would have won some money? Also, and this is knowing the guy pretty well over the last year and a half, DaHanG wasn't in Q2 back in the day, he just showed up and practiced and became a dominate player. He doesn't have 9 years under his belt like some of us, and He had zero advantage over purri in his game. If purri didn't know ztn2dm3 as well as DaHanG, that's his fault. That's not a new map, but it's one of the best dueling maps in Q2. Also, purri must have felt too confident that he'd beat DaHanG in Quake2 if he allowed DaHanG the luxury of map choice by choosing Quake2 as his game choice. Maybe he should have chose Quake 3. They're both pillars in our respective Quake 2 commuinities, They both accomplished great feats, and they both deserve our full respect. If you can not agree to my final statement, then you're just some clown that makes the game and Quake 2 commuinity look like a joke. Glad we don't have any of you representing Quake 2 in such a high regards.

	all who r disapointed with purri performance in q2 shuld know on Quakecon was played orginal q2 (i hope dahang had one his pc ) this days all play with custom pack with changed sound and skins just try to play orginal q2 i did imho that game sux i guess it was hard to purri to play without his custom pack after 7years . i watched purri dueling before QuakeCon and he complained about sounds and i belive him and dont forget: purri is not q2 player for years he just showup on EDL or NDML with few day practice Quake4 is purri game now and he prove that to dahang 4th on ESWC'07 > 3rd on WSVG'07 gg purri Edited: 2007-08-06 06:49

	Congratz to both dahang and purri for placing in the money, unexpected win for sure but it was deserved imo. Dahang played really nice even before he got all those spawnfrags in the end. And yea coverage was a fucking joke, they didnt even post any brackets.

	yeah, coverage was really bad, almost impossible to get live updates unless you knew someone on the event who could tell you what was going on on iRC. The tournament also had this randomness attached to it, as the third game was picked by coinflip, and even though Toxic is an extremely good q3 and q4 player, he was very lucky to have those games being picked as a decider in the 3 last rounds. I believe naym, dahang and fox are better qw players than tox. The same applies for dahang vs purri where the deciding game was quakeworld, had it been q3 it could have gone the other way around. But we will never know, think the tourney was really fun for the players, but lack of coverage made it a pain in the ass to follow for spectators. But that's not rare when it comes to QuakeCon, unfortunately.

	The coverage was absolutely TERRIBLE. Overall I thought the tournament was pretty cool, It brought out q1, q2, and q3 players who otherwise probably wouldn't have attended.
