 I have been trying to reach out beyond the Q2 TDM community to see if there is activity in other parts of Q2. And if I'm lucky I will be writing about different active q2 communties whenever I get the chance. Right now I'll focus on the mod called Railwarz.
Railwarz
Is basically a Capture The Flag mod with railgun and off-hand hook, where you'll see some stunning display of aim and movement but also focus on teamplay.
Quoting  lidz :: When an expert offensive player can grab the flag and capture it in less than 10 seconds, having the ability to place a rail shot on them is important. Not to mention, when they are hooking amazingly, while you are hooking behind them in a mad chase.
Be sure to check out lidz' own little , where newcomers will get some advice on how and where to play etc. lidz has also provided with this (need to be logged on to download) as an example of the mod.

The main site was relaunched just a month ago, after the previous one had major isssues with the site itself and the forum. They recently started a , could be usefull to check out the rules if interested in how it's played. Another site worth visiting if you're interested in the mod is the site, that hosts most of the servers where games are currently being played. Here you will also find quite a few useful links to paks, forum and stats.

Again, quoting lidz :: I would love to get an opportunity to share this mod with the people at q2scene. Mind you the die hard CTF players, whom enjoy the grapple and quad/tech style of play are hard to change. Which is cool, to each their own. But for anyone who wants to try the fastest most intense q2 mod, I believe railwarz is the one to try.
Come join a server some night and spec some games, it would be cool to see you drop by.
