Dear Quakers, Soldiers, Brothers of the ever addictive void. We stand yet with another season of the Euro Quake 2 League and the European Duel League. This is thanks to all those out there returning to reanimate the dead servers and once again give them life. I would personally like to thank the handful of players volunteering to admin the Euroq2l and EDL this season. Mostly of all, to wision, once again, stepping forward, taking control and shielding Quake 2 from the darkness of extinction. wision, I am sure many of us in the Quake 2 scene will join me in saying "We salute you!"
Many of you may have noticed that the Euroq2l and EDL are getting smaller and smaller each year. Unfortunately this is an inevitable process of any game. However, you can do your part to help rejuvenate the scene, give it life and hopefully allow it to endure just that little bit longer. Encourage a friend to give Quake 2 a try. After all, it's free! Maybe if you know an old player, you could inspire them to return. You could even pop into IRC and offer any opinions or feedback to improve the scene. Most importantly, treat your fellow Quakers with the utmost respect. Cut the attitudes, ridiculous banter and egoism. Offer to help out the newer players and encourage them to be part of the scene, not drive them away.
On a smaller not, due to the great feedback from the Edge league articles, I have offered to write articles for the Euroq2l and EDL this season. Since I am unable to play at this time, I felt I wanted to do something for the scene that I have been part of for almost half of my life. So, I hope you look forward to and enjoy any upcoming articles that I intend to start working on later this week.
