Thought I will just write a quick note about Tastysplean servers.
Most more less active players probably already noticed, but TS NL, UK and DE servers are not listed anywhere anymore.
This doesnt mean they are down for some time, they are OFF, and not coming back anytime soon.
These servers costs to run, and although they were probably most popular European q2 servers they didn't pay back.
Thats why they are off.
To run one server costs 10USD (8EUR) per month.
If you have any suggestions, this is a good place to write them down.

Having just seen this thread, I was a little confused, as I have not shut down any tastyspleen servers.
The servers in question appear to have been island55's DigitalFrag servers, which he had asked me to rename as tastyspleen servers last September, 2012.
island55 did contact me a month ago on IRC stating he was thinking of shutting down his q2 servers. I ought to have followed up on that, but unfortunately it slipped my mind (until seeing this thread this evening.)
Sorry for the inconvenience. And thanks to island55 for hosting his servers for all that time.
I'd be willing to host a couple Euro servers -- however it looks like claire has already stepped up!

Thanks for all the support with the TS servers and also for the new servers. Provide a way to donate and write up some news and spread the word. You will get a donation from myself and most likely others.
There is also an spanish server hosted by Bullz. It will be online only ocasionaly in weekends and and some evenings of the week. I think its good alternative for USA players wich will attend q2 competitions, not sure tho about the longevity of this server but just wanted to let you know about it.
i think these new servers from Claire are better then the older tastyspleen ones. At least this is what noticed and many others. Imo we should try to throw some beer money into Claire´s paypal account, that is if he agrees ofc.

Well seems with help of playOK and Claire we have servers in NL, UK and DE again. Do we need TS servers? If so I could talk to Island55 or maybe Claire, if he has time, we could arrange something.
I can donate some money too. But we need some1 to manage the money and the rent servers.Another solution would be to host own servers the players kind enough to do that and have the right conditions. If we let servers down, it's like letting quake 2 down aswell.

Who was in charge of TS servers? i think those servers should stay alive imo. Maybe we should help donate for those servers instead since they were good imo.
I just put up a germany server on 62.113.202.102:27910 (de.packetflinger.com) and I'm waiting for a UK VPS to be provisioned, once it is I'll throw one up there too.
I think best is if some active players would donate some of they beer money, and we would keep one or two servers alive. If there would be more players like that I would donate 3-4 euro per moth to keep NL server
