The Community: nick-faking even nick-cheating (?!?), kinda lame actions on IRC, ping-flooding during matches...
... above mentioned are few diseases of nower times European Quake 2 community. Problems whole leagues deal with.
Compared to CS or Quake 3 our community is such a little one that you nearly know every guys face. So much the worse Quake 2 community has to suffer from this childish stuff. We all play and love this game for many years and hopefully all of us are old enough to overlook our behaviour at least many including me thought so.
But unfortunately recent developments told an other story.
All of this culminated when one well known guy nick-faked not only one time and has been punished for it but did few weeks later again. The consequences to him and his clan are clear to all i think. Comments on the league website are similar to a dash of all his compatriots and seem to come out that noone would play against them. Not in the least this posts are better than the nick-faking guys action and comments. But even the search for excuses is redundant as often said before: the rules are clear and unequivocal.
In 1999 and 2000 German Quake 2 community had problems with cheaters or just very silly guys. However the consequences always affected just this one player and not whole community!
In the course of time the national communities merged to only one big one left. We all want to keep this alive correct me if i am wrong. So erverybody should get a grip on oneself!
