Poll: Gib or Jib?2007-05-18 17:28 | daelmun
Hehe, just had to make an official poll about this:

Gib: soft or hard G?

Gibs: wikipedia-entry
In computer games, gibs (International Phonetic Alphabet: [some letters that wont show in this font), short for giblets, are the little bits of internal organs, flesh, and bone, generally smaller than entire limbs but bigger than golf balls, left when a person or creature is obliterated. id Software's Adrian Carmack is credited with coining the term.

Soft G: Gender
Hard G: Girl

So, do you say Gib with a hard G, or Gib with a soft G [Jib]? The reason I'm asking is this old forum-thread on TastySpleen.net where they're having a discussion about the topic. Gib is a word coming from the word Giblets that is pronounced with a soft G. But, I (and many others) seem to prefer the hard G in gibs. How do you say it? Cast your vote in the poll on the right-hand side.

While you're there, cast your vote on who will win the EuroQ2L final as well!

EuroQ2L: Wizard-3M rescheduled2007-05-17 14:37 | daelmun
The final of Division I in the European Quake League has been rescheduled for Thursday 24th of May @ 20:00.

[3M.Assasin] had major problems with his connection which caused him to be disconnected every 3-5 minutes or so, which made the teams along with the admins come to the conclusion the game wasn't possible to play at the scheduled time.

Q2 CTF Cup: CTF still alive2007-05-15 15:29 | daelmun
There is a new Capture the Flag (ctf) league that has just kicked off, appropriately named Q2CTF cup. There are seven teams, named G, H, I, J, K, L and M of course and they will play in one group, and by the end of the cup the top two teams will play for the championship while the 3rd and 4th will play for the bronze-medal.

:: Check the rules
:: Each game will be played 5v5/6v6 on preset maps, two maps are played per round

Respawned
"We are Respawned! We have respawned! Respawned! is a gaming community. Most of us are based in the UK, with a smattering of mainland Europeans to add flavour. "

The tourney is ran on respawned-server, where also the forum is hosted.

First gameday is today with 3 games being played on fixed times. Very good to see some action in the CTF-communtiy, as there is no ClanBase CTF cup this season.

JUMP: ch-ch-ch-Changes2007-05-15 15:02 | daelmun
Due overwhelming response (aka 16 spots filled up in no time), the admins of the JUMP-tourney have decided to open the first edition of the league for more players! As a result the rules have gone through somewhat of a reworking to adopt to the new player-limit:

:: 5 groups with 6 players each
:: top 3 moves to playoffs
:: 3 groups in playoffs
:: each map played for 15 minutes instead of 20 due 6 maps played per round

Quoting the rules:
:: Maps: If some mapmakers create new special jump maps for playoffs, 6 of those maps will be used in it. Unless, players pick up a map each as in group stage. After 6 maps, the 7th map will be decided by poll on website. That same 7th map will be played in all groups. A map is played 15 min too!
:: FINAL: The 2 best players from each group pass to FINAL. The new maps if we have them, will be used in FINAL too. Unless, players pick up map each. The 7th map will be decided by poll on website ! Map is played only 15 min! After 7 maps, the one, who will have most points, gain GOLD and can be called as the BEST JUMPER ! Second place- silver, third- bronze, 4th- wood.
Quote ends

EDL: Closing in on the end2007-05-15 14:47 | daelmun
Finally there is only the semifinals (one of them actually) and the final left to be played in the European Duel League as all the quarterfinals have been played/walkovers handed out.

Padonkas unable to play
Unfortunately, due connection problems Padonkas has been forced to give Ib0gInE a walkover win in their game. He had bad pings even in his own country, even more so abroad. As a result Ib0gInE moves on to the semifinals to play Purri, who convincingly took down Turricane three maps to none earlier tonight.

:: This match may be played later tonight, 22 CET'ish (not confirmed yet)

Quarterfinal results
(ptrip/q2rdm2/match1) Damiah [3:1] Aone (q2dm1)
(q2duel5/q2duel1/q2dm1) Assasin [3:2] Blaizz (ztn2dm2/q2dm3)
(q2dm1/q2rdm2/q2dm3) Purri [3:0] Turricane
(wo/wo/wo) Ib0gInE [3:0] Padonkas

Semifinals
Damiah continues to march through the league in a convincing manner, taking down Assasin 3:0 after a good performance against a somewhat struggling Assasin who had a troublesome netgraph as well as a troublesome opponent to fight. As a result Damiah is already secured a spot in the final, congratulations!

(q2rdm2/q2duel5/ptrip) Damiah [3:0] Assasin

Purri vs Ib0gInE :: not scheduled :: may be played tonight
