#q2pickup: what it's all about | 2006-11-28 14:06 | daelmun |
| |
| | |
|
If you're intrested in playing quake2 4v4 pickupgames, then this is the place for you:
If not, you'll probably still want to know what it's all about since it's hard to avoid the /amsg's on IRC. After a bit of research (aka double-clicking on link in channel-topic), I came to this conclusion:
What really is:
is a channel where clanned and unlcanned q2-players join to get a fairly organized game of 4v4 going on, without it being a PCW (practice clanwar).
The main objective is to make teams as even as possible, and this is done by the bot on the channel randomly picking two captains, one for each team, out of the players signed up (type !add to put yourself on the list of players).
The captains then fight a blasterbattle on the chosen server, and the winner gets the first pick. The loser then picks two players, then they pick one each till teams are full.
about it
Then they play! Now you know what it is.

New poll: R1Q2 anticheat | 2006-11-28 12:50 | daelmun |
| |
| | |
|
I just thought I'd put up a poll here, because I was curious about how many here who are using an operating system (OS) that is compatible with
Requirements:
The anticheat module is only compatible with 32-bit Windows 2000/XP/2003.
I thought it would be intresting to see what the outcome was, before leagues would consider enforcing such an anticheat. |

|
Don't know if anyone here remembered the that was ran by pnutz in the summer 2006.
It was won by cse, who beat sycroz in the final (2-1).
cse did send me his demos for me to upload on , but I forgot it, and now I can't find the demos. But I did find the q2dm3 game on , with Spliff (<3) commentating!
Crappy quality, but at least it's something!

FFA Heat: FFA tourney | 2006-11-27 16:25 | daelmun |
| |
| | |
|
On they are now working on yet another FFA-tourney. After three successfull -FFA tourneys, Laurelin is now preparing a new take on the FFA tourney concept:
FFA Heat:
FFA tourney with group elimination: 8 players per group, top half moves on to next round after playing a FFA on a map chosen by elimination. When there are only 8 players or less left, the grand final will be played.
Rules: read the rules
Signups: Sign up
Date: Tuesday January 2nd 2007
As always when it comes to tastyspleen-hosted tourneys, they are ran on North American servers, and will be played in the evening over there, which is the same as mid-night in Europe. This tourney will probably go on for a while if there are enough players, which means that any Europeans wanting to take a part will have to stay up really late! |

NiDML ... for clans? | 2006-11-24 17:12 | daelmun |
| |

With the failure of last season of (Nations Insta-Deathmatch League) in the back of his mind, Gravgon is considering turning the whole cup into a insta-league consisting of clans instead of national teams. This league will be totally independent from the already existing .
Be sure to drop a comment in Gravgon's , and contact him if you want to help running the league! |
