OTeC 2x2: Dimmo&Blacker wins | 2006-07-31 10:41 | daelmun |
| |
| | |
|
The Russian quake2 scene seems to be alive and kicking lately, not only is the (Russian Duel League) in the workings, but they have also been able to finish a 2v2 tourney during the summer.
The tourney, named , was hosted on the (NB: the site is in Russian). The final was played between:
mo1ot (Dimmo/Blacker)
pn (pnp/nol1ght)
Since the KTA memebers Dimmo and his cousin Blacker are half Russian, they were allowed to play in the Russian tourney. Allthough they still had to play all matches on Russian servers (playing matches with 50ms vs 20ms ping according to Dimmo).
The grand final
mo1ot vs pn [3:1] (q2dm5/q2dm7/q2next1/q2dm3)
as well as demos from all povs (site in Russian)

AusQ2: cse wins 1v1 tourney | 2006-07-30 11:49 | daelmun |
| |
| | |
|
Then the duelling competition has ended. In what proved to be quite a successfull event, the three remaining players played the two remaining matches just a few hours ago.
Loserbracket final
sycroz vs pnutz [2:0] (q2dm1 / q2rdm2)
Grand final
cse vs sycroz [2:1] (q2rdm2 (cse) / q2dm1 (sycroz) / q2dm3 (cse))
In the final all maps were pretty close, and on q2dm1 we saw 3 overtimes (5 min each) being played before sycroz managed to force the game into a third map. But on q2dm3 cse showed some nice skills, securing his victory.
Also great shoutcasting provided by spliff. And good effort by the admins (especially pnutz) for making this tourney a success.
Final standings
1: cse
2: sycroz
3: pnutz
4: m1ran
5: ch0ps |

| |
| | |
|
The quake2 scene in Australia (pnutz being the mastermind behind it all) has just kicked off a (the 2v2 tourney is still in the making). It seems to be running ever so smoothly this far, only one replacement this far that I know of, and games are being played as we speak.

for the tourney:

Weapons of Quake2 | 2006-06-27 15:00 | daelmun |
| |
| | |
|
I've written covers how to best take advantage of the quake2 arsenal, meaning how and when to use each weapon.
If you're totally new to FPS and quake2 reading it might give you some ideas on how to use the weapons. If you're a seasoned player it might not be as usefull, but feel free to add advices or point at blatant errors in comments. Because it's by no means a perfect guide.
And with this article I'll be taking a summer break from updating quake2-news, which fits nicely since the scene is pretty much in a state of hibernation at the moment. Enjoy the summer and hopefully Argentina will win the worldcup ;D? |

2x2?: WOC winners on w/o | 2006-06-26 13:57 | daelmun |
| |
| | |
|
In what seems to a be walkover infested playoffs, the league came to an end with WalkOver Champions WOC (Without Cheat) taking the trophy back home:
WOC > .fi [3 - 0] (w/o x3)
The pretty disappointing playoffs and slowmoving groupstages aside, the head admin Gerdt is not abandoning the basic ideas behind 2x2?, but he is actually refining the whole concept based on lessons learned from this "test" season. .
Enjoy the summer everyone!! |

|
So it was decided, Fires of Judaism (FoJ) managed to win the grand finale in the North American Deathmatch League (NADML) with a convincing 3-0 win over Shiningforce. Again it seemed that the key duo of DaHanG and naymlis managed to secure the win over Poland's mr. one-man-team himself Scooby and mr. Esreality Slasher.
FoJ vs Shiningforce [3 - 0] (q2dm5/q2dm2/q2dm1)

Be sure to check out the site for playerstats and other fascinating statistics. There has been annoucned a fall season of NADML which will kick off around August or so, so more information about this will be posted as soon as anything becomes official. |

Long time no post.. I'd like to thank daelmun for posting news on the site these last few months, and keeping it alive. He is definately someone I think everyone should respect for his talents and knowledge.
Anyway before his ego gets too inflamed :P, The NADML Playoffs is about to conclude tonight at 21.00 EDT (03.00 CET). This season's final features the heavy favourites FoJ (member's of b|d's Q4 team) against the not powerful team of [+] (shining force, another split section of b|d's Q4 team) + (Poland flag for Scooby so he doesn't whine.. lol). These two teams were considered to be the NADML finals, and without disapointment they achieved the goal everyone placed upon them. Shoutcast for this final will be available tonight. Contact me ([2c]10) for shoutcast information. Good luck to both sides. |
