is a new Quake 2 client who has developed from a buggy lame proggy to a stable and quite useful NoCheat replacement.
But as some players tried it, they got disappointed about the lack of possibilities which were available in such clients as q2ace, nocheat. r1ch's forum got spamed very fast with requests to add such commands, as cl_drawping, time, chathud. Players found them very useful in their game play. But r1ch showed no mercy to them and always denied. Here's where  Ukraine comes in. just edited a little bit r1q2's source code for the latest (at this moment) b5240 version of r1q2.

It's time to say "Goodbye"... . I decided to retire from my jobs and activities concerning online gaming. For sure most of you recognized that i was not present for the last 2 months but my real life kept me really busy - and now it is time for the 'real' life.
I had a great time since i started playing Q2 in 1998. The time taking care about the scene and some leagues was as great as the time as active player was. Thank u all for this nice part of my life. For sure i will look back at this period with a weeping eye.
Some more words for u:
It is really hard trying to keep this European scene alive and this big. Especially when running some leagues or even LANs. So try to be as fair to the admins as u wanted them to treat u. Its not really funny to spend 3 hours a day just for listening to whining, blaming and flaming people. Boys... it's just a game.
Within the next few days i will contact some of u out there to arrange all the necessary steps that have to be made for going on with q2scene.net and some other stuff. I will last as headadmin of this great site but i want to put some more and even new faces on it. Hopefully this guys will keep up the good work .
Best wishes fly out to all of u - especially to my old German friends HAL9000, dIem and Kara.
Ok, enough for now - except of IRC-idling and watching the newest demos ;)

"I'm not a cheater. I use nocheat" sounds like a joke nowdays. Most of the quakers realise that NoCheat's development is in a dead end. Neither updates, nor promises are made. You might think that nobody wants to work with the #$%^& code, which was written by Bryce. Well, you're wrong. managed to do a lot of work lately with NC engine and has made his own anticheat. Ladies and gentleman, in the red corner, weighing for about 829kb, HolyWater.

Obviously many people want cheat detection that works, and are willing to make some sacrifices to have a cheat free game, thus the large nocheat following. NoCheat it sounds like is basically no longer going to be updated, and there are hacks out for it. This project is started off the nocheat 2.40b2 engine and video renderer source code, with a brand new security dll written from scratch to fit into it. The engine has been modified slightly for the new dll and new name of course. The engine and ref_hwgl.dll video renderer will also continue to get future enhancements. The ref_soft and ref_gl are the original quake2 3.20 versions and will continue to be available for use for backwards to compatibility for older video cards. Many enchancements will be geared towards team and 1vs1 deathmatch play for use with the TDM mod and rocket arena 2, so these will be defaulted to off so people who play other mods wont have a problem.

The brilliant Q2 Movie "Polish Frag Festival 2" is nominated in several categories for the eSports Movie Awards. The eSports Movie Awards are organized by the German TV Channel which is part of the big NBC Network. GiGa Games and especially GiGa eSports are well known in all German speaking countries.
The Categories Polish Frag Festival 2 is nominated for are:
Best Cut/Effects - Quake
Best Sound - Quake
Best Video - Quake
Hope the movie will make it which would be a great honor and nevertheless a big reward for the authors.
