Draganov, my tactics are fine hence why I knocked DM around in the first match. I lost simply because I don't have the motivation to practice anymore. The is a difference between playing and practicing you know, not that I play anymore ether.

For a start, Plato, not Platon, lived in a time when science and medicine were under developed. I don't live in a time were Quake 2 or the players in it are under developed. So there goes your argument right out the window Draganov.
Sarge, makes players nervous? Players get nervous in both public and 'league' matches. The fact that most players use fake names or refuse to duel on publics unless it's with players they are comfortable with proves this. It's a method in which players can be at ease in public games because win or lose, the fake name covers up their ineptness.
If a player gets nervous in a league match and makes a mistake, doesn't mean the player is worse. Infact quite the opposite, the player is better except the pressure of the spectators and brand of the match causes players to degrade in skill. Which proves purri's theory about players enchancing abilities just for league games is a heap of crap. If anything, players play worse in leagues and therefore get beat by players they would usually slam. So conclusion is that leagues actually determine inaccurate results in presenting a players valid adeptness.
Provoking nerves in a player, though any good player shouldn't get nervous, is just a way of surpressing a players true potential.
I believe in looking past the fancy jumps or low ping bullshit 'played too much' aims and over used and repetative newschool tactics and analyzing the true core of a player in his thought and use of manipulation. I don't think the Quake 2 players in the scene are capable of that kind of playability yet, most likely never will be ether considering the mental aptitude of modern players is not provoked to enchance in modern play.

Why should I since losing in a pick-up game won't change a thing ? Some of us participate in leagues clearly for fun but come on ... people play in leagues cause they want to beat others, to feel more skilled than others, to get a respect. Imo that's the point of tournaments. People will remember you if you practiced a lot before a league and during it you kicked ass someone well known.
